BENGKULU (ISL News) – PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 Bengkulu continues to strengthen its role as a logistics hub that supports trade activities, goods distribution, and community mobility in Bengkulu Province.
Until the first semester of 2026, various operational indicators showed a positive trend, reflecting the increasing economic activity served by the port.
Based on operational data, the flow of goods served by Pelindo Regional 2 Bengkulu reached 1.33 million tons, a 35.61 percent increase compared to the same period last year. At the same time, ship traffic based on Gross Tonnage (GT) grew 42.25 percent, while the number of passengers increased more than sevenfold to 8,752.
Pelindo Regional 2 Bengkulu General Manager Dimas Rizky Kusmayadi said the increase shows that ports play a vital role in maintaining a smooth supply chain and supporting regional economic growth.
"Ports are more than just places for ships to dock. They serve as hubs for economic activity, from distributing community needs to the movement of superior regional commodities. Therefore, we continue to strive to ensure optimal service," Dimas said in a written statement on Monday (August 3, 2026).
This increase in activity was also accompanied by improvements in service productivity. Bag cargo loading and unloading productivity increased to 53.91 tons per aisle per hour, while liquid bulk productivity reached 81.89 tons per aisle per hour, higher than the same period last year.
According to Dimas, the improved performance is the result of various operational improvement efforts that the company continues to undertake, including coordination to support the normalization of shipping routes so that ship and cargo services run more smoothly.
"We continue to make gradual improvements so that the port can provide faster, safer, and more reliable services to all service users," he said.
