SEMARANG INDONESIA (ISL News, 05/02/2026) – PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas through TPK Semarang distributed a grant of 10 units of Caterpillar type C6.6 ACERT engines to educational institutions through the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Program as a form of the company's commitment to supporting the strengthening of vocational education and improving the quality of human resources.
The donated engine is a truck head engine, a non-asset, remaining consumable maintenance material not included in the company's asset list. All units have undergone an internal inspection and have been declared unusable to support terminal operations. However, the engine still has significant utility value and can be used as a practical learning tool (hands-on learning) in engineering, heavy equipment, and maritime engineering.
The distribution of this grant is carried out in accordance with the provisions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for handling remaining materials for equipment maintenance/repair work that apply within PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, and is guided by the principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG). In terms of educational benefits, each Caterpillar C6.6 ACERT engine unit is estimated to have a learning equivalent value of around Rp. 30 million to Rp. 50 million per unit when compared to similar engines for practical and technical training needs. This estimate is the educational benefit value, not the book value of the asset, considering that the engine's status is non-asset.
Terminal Head TPK Semarang, I Nyoman Sutrisna, said that the TJSL Engine Grant program is a real manifestation of synergy between the industrial world and the world of education.
"We hope that utilizing this non-asset engine will provide significant added value for educational institutions, particularly in supporting practice-based learning that is relevant to current industry standards and needs. This is part of TPK Semarang's contribution to developing superior, work-ready human resources," he said.
The engine grants were distributed to SMKN 1 Semarang, SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Semarang, SMK Perintis 29 Semarang, Surabaya State Polytechnic of Shipbuilding, and Maarif Hasyim Latif University in Sidoarjo. The Caterpillar C6.6 ACERT engine is expected to be used for introduction to engine working systems, maintenance activities, and direct component analysis.
A positive response was delivered by Silahuddin from SMK Negeri 1 Semarang, he expressed his appreciation for the support given by TPK Semarang to the world of vocational education.
"The grant of machinery from Pelindo Semarang to SMK Negeri 1 Semarang is part of our commitment to support vocational education and improve the quality of human resources of SMK 1 students. This Caterpillar diesel engine grant is very helpful in improving the skills of SMK Negeri 1 Semarang students," he said.
Asti Hanani from Muhammadiyah 2 Vocational School, Semarang, echoed this sentiment. She believes the engine grant will strengthen the quality of learning at the school.
"We will use this engine as a practical tool for students to develop a more practical technical understanding. We thank TPK Semarang for their concern and support in improving the quality of vocational education," he said.
Through this TJSL program, TPK Semarang affirms its commitment to continue contributing sustainably to the community, particularly in supporting the development of competent human resources aligned with industrial needs and strengthening the national logistics ecosystem.
