KUPANG NTT (ISL News) – PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas Kupang (TPK Kupang) affirmed its commitment to creating a safe, healthy, and productive work environment by organizing educational activities on the dangers of drug abuse and health checks for workers. In collaboration with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, this activity included socialization of P4GN (Prevention, Eradication, Abuse, and Illicit Trafficking of Narcotics) followed by the implementation of urine tests on 30 operational and administrative workers.
The event began with a presentation on the negative impacts of drugs on physical and mental health, as well as occupational safety, particularly in the logistics and port industries, which require high levels of vigilance. Following the outreach session, a medical team from the NTT Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNN) immediately conducted urine samples and tests to ensure all Kupang TPK personnel were free of illegal substances.
The Head of the NTT Province BNN Activity Team, Lia Novika Ulya, S.KM. , expressed her highest appreciation for the proactive initiative shown by the Kupang TPK management in maintaining the cleanliness of its work environment.
"The preventive measures taken by the Kupang Port Task Force are crucial. The port environment is a vital facility that requires a high level of concentration and occupational safety. Through the P4GN socialization and subsequent urine tests, we are not only protecting workers from the threat of hazardous substance abuse but also building collective awareness to maintain work productivity and safety," said Lia Novika Ulya , S.KM.
In line with this, TPK Kupang Terminal Head, Andhik Wahyu Kristianto, emphasized that the implementation of the Zero Tolerance principle against drug abuse in the port's operational area is absolute and non-negotiable.
"Occupational safety and professionalism are our top priorities. The port industry sector carries high operational risks, so workers must always be in top physical and mental condition. This collaboration with the NTT Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNN) is a clear demonstration of management's commitment to ensuring that all TPK Kupang employees are free from drug abuse, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient port operations," Andhik Wahyu Kristianto emphasized.
Enthusiasm and full support also came from the field workers who followed the course of the activity from start to finish.
Fuad Kadir, one of the operational workers at TPK Kupang, said that the education provided opened the workers' minds to the latent dangers of drugs in their environment.
"The outreach session really opened our eyes to the joys of living healthily without illegal substances and the significant risks that lurk if we become addicted to drugs. As field workers, we feel more at ease and protected because management facilitates positive activities and regular check-ups like this," said Fuad Kadir.
In line with this, Rasyid Hasan, an operational worker at TPK Kupang, also emphasized the importance of this activity to maintain mutual trust among colleagues in the operational area.
"This urine test and outreach program make us, as fellow workers, feel safer and more comfortable while working in the field. When working with heavy equipment and containers, we must trust that our colleagues are fully focused and in top condition. We fully support the steps taken by the NTT Provincial BNN and management to keep the port area free of drugs," said Rasyid Hasan.
Through this integrated activity, TPK Kupang hopes to continue to maintain a conducive work climate, improve operational safety standards ( Occupational Health and Safety ), and become a pioneer of drug-free work environments in the East Nusa Tenggara region.
