SURABAYA (ISL News) - PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) recorded positive monthly operational performance. In June 2026, container throughput at this subsidiary of Pelindo Terminal Peti Kemas (Pelindo TPK) continued to grow 5.06% month- on-month . Container volume increased from 111,000 Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) in May 2026 to 116,000 TEUs in June 2026.

In the international trade sector, TPS's export-import performance throughout June also showed healthy growth. Export flows rose 10.14% from 51,000 TEUs to 57,000 TEUs, while import volumes increased by 0.26% compared to the previous month, reaching 59,000 TEUs.

Resilience Amidst Dynamic Challenges

TPS Corporate Secretary, Erika Asih Palupi, expressed her gratitude to customers and all stakeholders for their trust and support, enabling TPS to maintain operational performance amidst various industry challenges. In line with this trust and support, the company also continues to make its best efforts in managing various operational adjustments during the transformation and rejuvenation of the main loading and unloading equipment at TPS. This transformation is part of TPS's long-term strategy to strengthen competitiveness and achieve increasingly optimal performance.

"The month-on-month growth in container traffic in June 2026 is the result of harmonious collaboration between TPS and all customers and stakeholders," said Erika.

Erika explained that with good communication and collaboration, the challenges in achieving performance along with the operational transition process currently underway at TPS can be minimized. The arrival and gradual operation of 14 Electric Rubber Tyred Gantries (E-RTG) and 4 Electric Container Cranes (E-CC) require several operational adjustments to ensure the transformation process runs optimally while minimizing disruption to customer service quality.

"This transformation is a long-term investment by TPS to strengthen capacity, productivity, and service reliability. We are optimistic that after this transition period is over, operational performance will improve, providing greater added value for service users and stakeholders," said Erika.

Logistics Players Appreciate Services, Controlling 83% of Market Share

The consistent quality of TPS services has also received praise from logistics and port service providers, as expressed by Husni, Deputy Chairman of the East Java branch of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI).

Husni assessed that the various transformation efforts undertaken by TPS have made a positive contribution to the smooth flow of logistics and increased efficiency of container services at Tanjung Perak Port.

"We see TPS's commitment to operational transformation and equipment modernization as the right step to increase port competitiveness. ALFI East Java hopes that the existing collaboration can continue to be strengthened to support a smooth supply chain and national trade growth," said Husni.

TPS's commitment to boosting productivity is demonstrated by concrete figures. Throughout the first two months of 2026, the average loading and unloading performance of TPS reached 51 boxes/ship/hour. This figure exceeds the minimum standard set by the Ministry of Transportation through the Tanjung Perak Main Port Operations Office (KSOP), which is 48 boxes/ship/hour.

With this performance, TPS can still maintain its dominance by controlling 83% of the international container market share at Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya.
