PALEMBANG (ISL News) - Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang held an Environmental Drill for Handling Spills of Hazardous and Toxic Waste (LB3) solid and liquid, located in front of the LB3 Temporary Storage Area (TPS) in the Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang area.
This activity was held as part of Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang's ongoing efforts to improve the preparedness and response capabilities of personnel to the emergency response system, especially in handling B3 waste spills in the port operational environment.
The scenario tested in this simulation depicts a used oil spill during the process of moving an oil drum using a forklift, as part of an oil change for the loading and unloading equipment engine at the LB3 TPS. In the scenario, the oil drum being transported by the forklift fell, causing a spill in the front yard of the LB3 TPS.
In accordance with emergency response procedures, the incident in the simulation was reported in stages, starting from officers in the field to the HSSE Junior Manager. The Emergency Response Team was then deployed to the location to conduct inspections and response measures, including cleaning the area using absorbent materials and sawdust, installing safety lines and slippery floor warning signs, and collecting contaminated waste into special packaging to be stored at the LB3 TPS before being transported by a licensed B3 waste transporter in collaboration with Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang. After the response process was completed, the authorized official reported the results of the handling to the Business Compliance Manager and the oil change activity of the loading and unloading equipment could be resumed.
This drill also involved representatives of subsidiaries within the Pelindo Group Regional 2 Palembang environment, namely PT IPC Terminal Petikemas, PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok, PT Jasa Armada Indonesia Tbk, PT Multi Terminal Indonesia, and PT Berkah Industri Mesin Gantung.

Through this activity, Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang affirmed its commitment to maintaining occupational safety, health, and environmental sustainability (K3LH) in the port operational area, while ensuring the readiness of all personnel to respond to emergency conditions quickly and appropriately.
