BEKASI INDONESIA (ISL News) - ALFI held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme "Taxation and Customs Reform to Increase the Competitiveness of the National Logistics Industry" with the Bekasi Regency Industry Office and the West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Bekasi Regional Government Office Complex, Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

The FGD, the first activity in the Road to ALFI Convex 2026 series, also served as an initial consolidation forum to gather input from the government and business community ahead of ALFI Convex 2026, a national event bringing together logistics stakeholders to discuss strengthening competitiveness and developing Indonesia's logistics ecosystem. Attended by approximately 100 representatives from the government, regulators, associations, industrial estates, and logistics businesses in West Java, the forum addressed a number of strategic issues of mutual concern to regulators and the business community.

Starting from the implementation of VAT (Value Added Tax) in the logistics industry, adjustments to business classifications from the KBLI Transportation Management Services (JPT), as well as harmonization of fiscal policies with operational practices in the logistics sector in West Java, one of the largest manufacturing industrial centers in Indonesia.

A number of officials and speakers also attended the discussion, including the Deputy for Coordination of Commerce and Digital Economy of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Ali Murtopo Simbolon; Representative of the Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes West Java II, Dimon Nainggolan; Representative of the Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise West Java, Eko Herlambang; and Representative of the Industrial Estate Association (HKI), Ravel Tunggeleng.

The Chairman of the ALFI West Java Regional Executive Board, Irfan Hakim, emphasized that this forum serves as a starting point for collaboration between stakeholders to respond to the ever-evolving regulatory dynamics in the logistics sector. "This FGD serves as a launching pad for us to collaborate, interact, and share information and fill the gaps we need among all stakeholders in the logistics ecosystem, including those from the business world, government, and service users. This is a crucial momentum, especially for West Java, to build a competitive logistics ecosystem, both nationally and internationally," said Irfan Hakim.

Irfan added that regulatory dynamics are part of the consequences in the business world that must be faced with strong adaptability and resilience. "Regulatory dynamics are indeed one of the pillars of business. This means we must also be able to adapt to changes, both global and local, as well as from government regulations themselves. One of the foundations of a business is the KBLI reference, and going forward, this also needs to be seen as the government's role in supporting the business world, especially in terms of legality and other necessary aspects," he said.

The forum also received praise from businesspeople. Muslim, a representative of a logistics company operating in the South Cikarang area, noted that the FGD provided relevant insights and information for businesses, particularly regarding adjustments to changes to the KBLI and its implications for customs and taxation.

"This FGD has broadened our horizons and provided us with valuable information, particularly regarding our logistics business. We also need to quickly adapt to changes in the Indonesian Standard of Living (KBLI) related to taxation, customs, and the release of goods. We truly appreciate this activity, as it has broadened our perspectives," he said.

The forum emphasized the importance of regulatory certainty, harmonization of the tax system with operational practices, and integrated digital transformation as three pillars that need to be strengthened together to support a competitive West Java logistics ecosystem. All input from the forum will be formulated into a policy brief to be submitted to the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as part of the consolidation towards ALFI CONVEX 2026, which will take place on October 28-30, 2026, at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta. Irfan concluded by stating that ALFI Convex 2026 will be a strategic forum that gathers ideas, solutions, and input from various logistics business players in Indonesia.

"ALFI Convex is a major forum for logistics professionals in Indonesia. It provides a platform for discussing issues, problems, solutions, and ideas. I hope ALFI Convex 2026 will be even more exciting, impactful, and even more impactful for logistics in Indonesia!" Irfan concluded.
