JAKARTA INDONESIA (ISL News) — PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (PTP Nonpetikemas) strengthened its role in supporting the national industrial supply chain by handling the import and unloading of 36,984 tons of steel slabs at Pier 115, PTP Nonpetikemas Tanjung Priok Branch, North Jakarta on Wednesday, (29/04/2026).
The MV Vanguard, transporting raw materials for the steel industry from the Port of Sohar, Oman, is part of an effort to maintain a sustainable supply for Indonesia's strategic manufacturing sector. The unloading operation, which took place from April 28 to May 1, 2026, was supported by a Gantry Luffing Crane (GLC) facility combined with a ship's crane to ensure safe and efficient loading and unloading.
The handling of large volumes of steel slabs confirms the position of PTP Non-container Tanjung Priok Branch as a strategic logistics node that supports the distribution flow of raw materials for the national industry, especially the steel product sector which is the backbone of development and manufacturing.
Branch Manager of PTP Non-Container Tanjung Priok Branch, Budi Utoyo, said this activity reflects the company's operational readiness to support industrial logistics needs through reliable and productive loading and unloading services.

In line with the strengthening of operational services, the productivity performance of the Tanjung Priok Branch also showed a positive trend in the first quarter of 2026. General cargo productivity grew 33 percent from 3,019 tons ship day to 4,024 tons ship day, while liquid bulk productivity increased 17 percent from 1,490 tons ship day to 1,746 tons ship day.
SM Corporate Secretary of PTP Nonpetikemas Fiona Sari Utami said that this activity is in line with PTP Nonpetikemas' role in supporting smooth logistics and the needs of national strategic industries.

On a consolidated basis, in the first quarter of 2026, non-containerized PTP throughput reached 12.4 million tons, a 3.84 percent increase compared to 11.9 million tons in the same period last year. This achievement was driven by dry bulk traffic of 5.7 million tons, liquid bulk traffic of 3 million tons, general cargo traffic of 2.9 million tons, and bag cargo traffic of 656,000 tons.
This growth indicates an increasing need for multipurpose terminal services while strengthening the contribution of Non-Container PTP in supporting national logistics flows and industrial activities.
Supported by adequate multipurpose infrastructure, PTP Non-container Tanjung Priok Branch has a pier length of 3,314 meters, a stacking yard of 158,342 square meters, a warehouse of 26,191 square meters, as well as loading and unloading equipment such as 11 units of Gantry Luffing Cranes, hoppers, grabs, forklifts, and weighbridges.
By strengthening these services and infrastructure, PTP Nonpetikemas continues to emphasize its role as a logistics driver that supports industrial supply chain efficiency and national economic growth.
