BANTEN (ISL News) – PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 Banten affirms its portfolio as a reliable strategic logistics hub in supporting food security and the national animal feed industry. Through complete facilities and operational excellence at Ciwandan Port, Pelindo Regional 2 Banten continues to facilitate the smooth flow of loading and unloading of dry bulk commodities, one of which is Soybean Meal (SBM) as the main source of vegetable protein in the animal feed industry which is an important pillar for the availability and growth of the livestock industry in Indonesia.
The reliability of port services is demonstrated by consistently achieving operational performance. Based on data compiled throughout 2025, Ciwandan Port successfully handled soybean meal with a total volume of 225,491 metric tons (MT).
This positive trend in operational services continued into 2026. As of August 2026, the volume of SBM commodities handled at Ciwandan Port reached 116,926 metric tons (MT), a 28.39% increase compared to the same period the previous year. This achievement is inseparable from strong collaboration and partnerships with service users and industry players who continue to entrust their logistics activities to Ciwandan Port.
Acting General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Banten, Achmad Yoga Suryadarma, stated that this operational achievement demonstrates the readiness of the dock infrastructure and the competence of human resources at Ciwandan Port in handling large-scale dry bulk commodities.
"The successful handling of hundreds of thousands of tons of soybean meal demonstrates the capacity and operational reliability of Ciwandan Port. This demonstrates our commitment, along with that of our stakeholders, to continue providing effective and efficient logistics services focused on meeting the raw material needs of the domestic animal feed industry," said Achmad Yoga Suryadarma (September 23, 2026).
Yoga explained that handling dry bulk cargo such as SBM requires high levels of productivity and cleanliness, the availability of reliable heavy equipment, and strict implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) standards to ensure the commodity's quality is maintained until it reaches its final destination. This positive performance is certainly inseparable from the close synergy established with service partners, stevedoring companies, and all relevant stakeholders within the port environment.
"Going forward, Pelindo Regional 2 Banten will continue to improve service quality and facility readiness to accommodate the increasing volume of logistics flows for animal feed and other cargo. This will certainly be easier to achieve with support from all parties to maintain the stability of the national industry and the sustainability of the logistics ecosystem going forward," Yoga concluded.
