SURABAYA (ISL News) — The MEPS Union Alliance consisting of the PT Lamong Energi Indonesia Workers Union (SP LEGI), the Pelindo Marine Service Workers Union (SP PMS), the PT Berkah Industri Mesin Hoisting Workers Union (SP BIMA), the PT Pelindo Energi Logistik Workers Union (SP PEL), and the PT Alur Pelayaran Barat Surabaya Workers Union (SP APBS), held discussions with the management of PT Pelindo (Persero).
The meeting discussed the transformation program, role map arrangement, and streamlining of the Pelindo Group as part of efforts to organize and strengthen the structure and role of entities within the Pelindo Group.
In the discussion, the MEPS Union Alliance conveyed a number of workers' views and aspirations regarding the impact of the transformation on the organization, business processes, and the sustainability of industrial relations within the Pelindo Group.
The MEPS Union Alliance views that the process of transformation and organizational restructuring needs to be carried out in a measured manner, while taking into account the interests and certainty of workers.
Furthermore, communication between management and labor unions is considered crucial to ensure that any organizational changes are transparently understood by all affected parties. Constructive dialogue is expected to provide a space for aligning the company's transformation needs with employment aspects.
The MEPS Union Alliance affirmed its commitment to continuing to build constructive communication and industrial relations with Pelindo management. The union also hopes that each stage of the Pelindo Group's transformation will be implemented with transparency, certainty, and attention to the sustainability and well-being of workers.
The discussion was part of an effort to build a common understanding between management and the workers' union in facing the dynamics of Pelindo Group's future transformation.
