JAKARTA INDONESIA (ISL News) - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo together with PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda) or Jakpro conducted field visits to several locations including Sunda Kelapa Port and the Jakarta Light Rail Transit/Integrated Highway (LRT) project. This activity is a follow-up to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on July 24, 2024.
The visit aims to identify opportunities for joint infrastructure development, such as integration between transportation modes, development of supporting facilities, and development of passenger transit areas in the Sunda Kelapa Port area. As a follow-up step, Pelindo and Jakpro are committed to preparing a strategic cooperation study.
For Pelindo, this synergy is also a follow-up to the Decree of the Minister of Transportation No. 35 of 2024 concerning the Sunda Kelapa Port Master Plan (RIP), where this port will be developed with a tourism concept.
"The current modes of transportation in the form of public transportation and online taxis require additional. For this reason, Pelindo and Jakpro are exploring opportunities for joint infrastructure development to support the movement of tourists from and to Sunda Kelapa Port with LRT transportation modes," said Group Head of Pelindo Corporate Secretariat, Ardhy Wahyu Basuki.
Sunda Kelapa Harbor has a long history since the 12th century and was once a center of trade between nations. Now its existence has become an attraction for foreign and domestic tourists. Every year around 40-50 thousand tourists come to visit to see the loading and unloading activities of sailing ships moored there.
General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Sunda Kelapa, Agus Edi Santoso added that Sunda Kelapa Port has great potential to be developed as a maritime tourism destination integrated with the urban transportation system.
"The synergy between Pelindo and Jakpro will have a positive impact, not only increasing connectivity, but also supporting the development of tourism in this port area," added Agus.
Activities at Sunda Kelapa Port will focus on tourism activities, cruise ships, yachts, and passenger ships.
