
SURABAYA INDONESIA (ISL News) - In order to improve the safety and welfare of Stevedores (TKBM), Pelindo Regional 3 distributed assistance with a total value of IDR 310 million throughout 2024.
The assistance includes the provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Occupational Safety and Health (K3) training, and free Operator License (SIO) certification. This step is a real manifestation of Pelindo Regional 3's commitment to support the creation of a safe and decent working environment for TKBM in its operational areas.
Senior Manager of Law and Public Relations of Pelindo Regional 3, Karlinda Sari, said that concern for the safety and welfare of port workers is the company's priority.
“As part of the port ecosystem, TKBM has a vital role in supporting smooth operations. Therefore, we are committed to ensuring that they work in safe and prosperous conditions. This assistance includes basic needs such as PPE, K3 training to improve understanding of occupational safety, and SIO certification to improve their competence. All of this is provided free of charge as a form of appreciation for their contribution,” he said.
The Chairman of the TKBM Cooperative Association for the Tanjung Perak region, Ahmad Kholik, expressed his appreciation for the assistance provided by Pelindo. "We are very grateful to Pelindo Regional 3 for their attention and support. This assistance means a lot to us, not only to improve work safety but also to support the welfare of TKBM members. The training and certification provided free of charge will open up better opportunities for us in carrying out our daily tasks at the port," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Manpower and Transmigration Office of East Java Province, Sihit Priyanto ST.MT, also appreciated the initiative of Pelindo Regional 3. "We strongly support Pelindo Regional 3's steps in paying attention to the safety and welfare of stevedoring workers. This program is in line with our efforts to improve occupational safety standards in the port sector. Hopefully this step can be an example for other companies to also care about workers in their respective sectors," he said.
With this assistance, Pelindo Regional 3 hopes to create a safer, more productive, and more humane working environment for all workers at the port. Previously, in the commemoration of the 2025 National K3 month, Pelindo Regional 3 also received an award of 9 million hours of zero accidents in its working area from the East Java Provincial Government.
