JAKARTA INDONESIA (ISL news) - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo ensures smooth passenger flow and optimal service at 63 passenger and roro terminals managed by the company during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year period (Nataru 2024/2025).
Pelindo Managing Director, Putut Sri Muljanto explained his preparations in a press conference with the Special Staff of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Arya Sinulingga and also directors from other BUMN companies held at the Media Center of the Ministry of BUMN, Jakarta on Thursday (19/12/2024).
Representing the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir, Arya Sinulingga said that President Prabowo Subianto has given direction so that people who carry out holidays and worship during this year's Nataru moment can run smoothly and safely. His party also gave appreciation for Pelindo's alertness in providing the best service to its service users, especially during the Nataru moment like this.
"In accordance with the direction of President Prabowo, how the community must smoothly and safely carry out holidays and worship during this Nataru momentum," said Arya.
Arya also paid attention to the possibility of an increase in vehicle volume, especially at the Merak-Bakauheni crossing.
"The current homecoming trend, Indonesian people like to drive by car. One example of the factor, the Sumatra toll road is getting longer and better, this is what makes people choose private vehicles. Of course, this in BUMN must be ready regarding crossings that make people comfortable," added Arya.
On that occasion, Pelindo Managing Director, Putut Sri Muljanto said that Pelindo ensures that the services and facilities provided run optimally so that the flow of passenger transfers between passenger terminals continues to run smoothly in accordance with the direction of the Ministry of SOEs on the momentum of Nataru 2024/2025.
"To face the Nataru flow this year, we ensure that the Nataru sea transportation flow runs optimally supported by the existence of the Integrated Nataru Transportation Post which operates 24 hours which functions as a center for supervision, coordination and information in monitoring passenger comfort and safety conditions," said Putut.
In maintaining the surge in passenger and goods flows, Pelindo has taken several anticipatory measures ahead of the peak of the 2024/2025 Christmas and New Year flow, including preparing tents with additional chairs, providing portable toilets, adding internal operational officers and security from the TNI/Polri, increasing inspections of passengers' belongings and facilitating ship operators to publish passenger fares at the passenger terminal.
Putut added that his party has also prepared supporting facilities at Ciwandan Port if needed to reduce the density of queues at Merak-Bakauheni Port in serving ships during the Nataru period, namely a 131-meter long pier, a buffer area for motorbike parking with a capacity of 2,000 units and logistics parking with a capacity of 200 units.
"We are also preparing additional buffer areas in collaboration with IKPP Port to support vehicles that will be integrated to Merak Port," added Putut.
In addition, Pelindo continues to optimize digitalization of services by implementing an autogate system in 4 Regions to improve efficiency and streamline operational processes. The implementation of this system is also supported by the availability of an Information Center and monitoring of passenger activities through the Control Room to provide security and comfort.
The ports with the most passengers during the Christmas and New Year period over the past 2 years are Tanjungpinang Port, Tanjung Balai Karimun, Tanjung Perak, Makassar, Ambon and Parepare.
