PALEMBANG INDONESIA (ISL News) -
IPC Terminal Petikemas/IPC TPK, a subsidiary of Subholding Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, implemented the Social & Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL) for the Conservation of Underwater Resources by releasing 5,150 catfish seeds in the Musi River, South Sumatra. This program supports the realization of Sustainable Development Goals/SDGs number 14 on Marine Ecosystems.

IPC TPK President Director Guna Mulyana said that this is the company's commitment to preserving nature through the restoration of aquatic ecosystems. The release of fish into their natural habitat is expected to restore fish populations that are threatened with extinction or reduced due to  overfishing  and ecosystem damage.

This program is implemented in the framework of World Wildlife Conservation Day which aims to preserve flora and fauna which falls on December 4.

In the implementation of the TJSL program, IPC TPK continues to encourage collaboration of port ecosystems such as associations, partners and service users. The involvement of various parties is needed to reduce the environmental impact caused by container loading and unloading activities. The TJSL Fish Seed Release program this time was attended by the Chairman of DPW ALFI/ILFA Palembang Hilarius Purwanto Kurniawan, the President Director of IPC TPK and the management of IPC TPK.

In 2024, IPC TPK has implemented a number of Environmental Development Pillar TJSL Programs including coral reef conservation in collaboration with Pelindo Terminal Petikemas and the Lampung Underwater Community on Pahawang Island, sanitation assistance in the form of 11 1,000 liter septic tanks for residents of Papanggo Village, as well as the greening program for Tanjung Priok Port and IPC TPK Pontianak.

"Thank you IPC TPK for involving us in preserving the ecosystem in addition to boosting the economy in Palembang. Hopefully this activity can maintain the underwater ecosystem and also improve the economy of the community around the Musi River.", concluded the Chairman of DPW ALFI/ILFA Palembang Hilarius Purwanto Kurniawan.
