SURABAYA INDONESIA (ISL News) – PT Pelindo Multi Terminal (SPMT), a multipurpose Subholding of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia, in synergy with PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) and PT FKS Multi Agro, Tbk, is carrying out a community empowerment program around the Teluk Lamong Terminal area through processing soybeans into tempeh and its derivatives.
This program began with SPMT holding a training on processing soybeans into tempeh products which was held on December 17-20, 2024 at the Pendopo of the Tambak Osowilangun Village Office, Benowo, Surabaya. This training was attended by 60 people from the Tambakoso Wilangon, Romokalisari, Tambak Sarioso, and Karang Kiring Villages.
VP of Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) SPMT, Joni Ilyas explained that this program is one of the priority programs of TJSL SPMT which focuses on education, environment, and UMKM development. This training aims to improve the skills and knowledge of the community in producing high-quality tempeh.
"The skills acquired can encourage people to create job opportunities through MSMEs. With this program, it is hoped that it can play a role in strengthening the regional economy and supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in the pillar of Economic Development, Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth," said Joni.
This training will then be continued by encouraging the community to form UMKM that processes soybeans into tempeh products and its derivatives. Furthermore, TTL will conduct monitoring and further development in the formation of these UMKM.
"In line with the ESG commitment at FKS Group, where community empowerment is one of our pillars. The mentoring program is an effort to advance the regional economy through the birth of community-driven MSMEs. We hope that with the strategic collaboration between FKS Group and Pelindo Group, it can provide positive multi-effects for the community," said VP ESG FKS Group, Beatrice.
VP of Corporate Communications & Protocol SPMT, Farid Chairmawan added that this program is implemented through the synergy of Pelindo Group between SPMT and TTL together with FKS Group which will be carried out continuously.
"This synergistic program is expected to be beneficial for the community and become one of the manifestations of our commitment in taking part and role in the progress of the environment around the port area," concluded Farid.
