Pelindo Multi Terminal or SPMT Encourages Stakeholders to Improve Occupational Safety in Port Environments

SURABAYA INDONESIA (ISL News) –
 As a commitment to increasing awareness of occupational health and safety (K3) in the port environment, Pelindo through its Subholding Pelindo Multi Terminal (SPMT) in collaboration with the East Java Province Occupational Safety and Health Council (DK3) and the Indonesian Stevedoring and Unloading Companies Association (APBMI) held an increase in K3 awareness for Stevedoring and Unloading Companies (PBM) in the Tanjung Perak Port working area in Surabaya on Tuesday (24/12/2024).


The activity entitled "Integration of K3 and Productivity in Ports: The Key to Reliable Logistics Performance" was held as a form of Pelindo's commitment to increasing awareness of K3 culture not only within the Pelindo Group environment, but also for all stakeholders in the port environment as a whole.


By presenting the Group Head of K3 and Sisman Pelindo Bondan Winarno, Head of the Main Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP) Tanjung Perak Agustinus Maun, and the Head of the Manpower and Transmigration Service of East Java Province Sigit Priyanto as speakers in this activity, and also attended by the Head of Manpower & K3 with the Head of Supervision and also the Head of the DPC APBMI Surabaya.


"Safety is a top priority at Pelindo, and Corporate Life Saving Rules (CLSR) is the main guideline to ensure that safety principles are internalized and implemented by all individuals in the work environment. By complying with CLSR, Pelindo is committed to creating a safe, healthy, and productive work environment for the sustainability of the company and the welfare of the community," explained Group Head of K3 and Sisman Pelindo, Bondan Winarno.


In line with the explanation of the Head of the Tanjung Perak Main KSOP Office Agustinus Maun, the integration of K3, port productivity, and logistics performance at Tanjung Perak Port is an important guideline for increasing the competitiveness of the national logistics index at the international level. "The consistent implementation of K3 at Tanjung Perak Port is expected to be a national example as well as a joint achievement for stakeholders," he said.


"K3 Awareness activities such as those held today are a strategic step to instill a safety culture in every line of work. We appreciate the commitment of Pelindo and all partners who continue to prioritize safety as a priority, in line with efforts to improve national logistics competitiveness at the global level," continued the Head of the East Java Province Manpower and Transmigration Office, Sigit Priyanto.


On this occasion, a key was installed on the Safety Lock board which is a symbol of the commitment of all stakeholders at the port to implement K3 culture. 


Each lock installed reflects a shared determination to create a safe, productive and sustainable work environment.


Furthermore, SPMT HR Director Edi Priyanto added that SPMT is not only focused on internalizing the K3 culture in the company environment, but is also committed to externalizing it to all stakeholders, such as stevedores (TKBM), truck drivers, and stevedores. This activity is the first step in externalizing the commitment to implementing K3 which can be used as a prototype to be carried out in various regions in Indonesia.


"The externalization activities carried out by SPMT are in line with the principle of Creating Shared Value (CSV), where occupational safety is part of our contribution to social and environmental sustainability. It is hoped that all participants from stevedoring companies can play an active role in building an OHS culture at the port. Together, realizing a port that is not only productive, but also safe and competitive, in order to support better national logistics performance," concluded Edi.
