SURABAYA
INDONESIA (ISL News) - PT Pelindo Marine Service or Pelindo Marine held a Mariners' Kids on Board event as part of an effort to introduce the maritime world to the younger generation. The event, which took place on Saturday (14/12/2024) in Surabaya, invited 40 children of employees aged 4-11 years to get to know the maritime and port world better through direct visits to Surabaya North Quay, Tanjung Perak Port, the Indonesian Navy Maritime History Museum Jalesveva Jayamahe, and the Pelindo Marine Office.

In addition, this event also features a puppet theater that educates about the importance of preserving the marine environment and provides educational scholarships to children of deceased employees and children of high-achieving employees.

Director of Finance, HR, and Risk Management of PT Pelindo Marine Service, Lia Indi Agustiana, who was present at the event, explained to the children and their accompanying parents that this event aims to provide insight into the importance of the maritime world and port business.

"We want to introduce the children of employees more closely to various aspects of the port world through a series of activities, such as a visit to Surabaya North Quay to see the beauty of Tanjung Perak Port, introducing the process of towing ships and loading and unloading goods at the Surabaya Container Terminal, taking children to the Pelindo Marine Office to foster a sense of respect and appreciation for parents, and ending with exploring maritime history at the TNI AL Jalesveva Jayamahe Maritime History Museum," he explained.

In addition, Pelindo Marine pays special attention to the children of employees who have passed away and children of high-achieving employees by providing educational assistance as a form of appreciation for their parents' dedication. "This TJSL program prioritizes education to show the company's commitment to paying attention to the welfare of employee families for their dedication to the company, as well as supporting employees' children to achieve their dreams, realize their best potential, and attract interest in the maritime world. This is also part of the company's efforts to contribute to creating a superior golden generation of Indonesia," added Lia Indi Agustiana.

One of the parents of Marine Kids on Board participants , Dhani Wijaya Sakti, who registered his three children and accompanied them, expressed his joy. "I am very happy because my children can gain insight into Indonesia's maritime history and get to know more about their parents' workplaces. In addition, our children were also invited to watch a puppet theater themed on preserving the marine environment. I believe that events like this are very useful, not only to introduce the maritime world, but also to instill awareness from an early age about the importance of preserving the environment," he said.

This event is part of a series of celebrations for the 13th anniversary of Pelindo Marine, which involves children of employees with the aim of inspiring the younger generation to explore the maritime world further. This activity is expected to provide a positive contribution to the development of the maritime industry in the future, while also supporting the achievement of the Vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.
