JAKARTA TANJUNG PRIOK (ISL News) - Welcoming Iedul Adha 1445 Hijriah which falls on June 17 2024, Jakarta International Container Terminal (PT JICT) once again distributed dozens of cows to be slaughtered by North Jakarta residents on this Iedul Adha.
The largest container terminal in Indonesia is preparing around 12 thousand coupons for Qurban beef cuts which will be obtained by the Duafa community in the Tanjung Priok, Koja and surrounding areas.
This activity of handing over sacrificial animals is a routine social activity carried out by JICT every year.
"In Islamic religious law, companies do not have an obligation to carry out Qurbani slaughtering. "But JICT cares about the community and makes this moment part of social and economic solidarity for residents and stakeholders within the Company," said Raditya Arrya, Senior Manager Corporate Secretary of PT JICT at the symbolic handover of Qurban animals in the JICT parking lot, Saturday (15/ 6).
"This year, JICT donated 40 cows to the community and company stakeholders," he added.
It was also said that apart from routinely distributing sacrificial animals on Eid al-Adha, as the busiest container terminal in Indonesia, JICT has been actively involved in corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities for more than 2 decades. Through the Education program, JICT has helped more than 1,500 out-of-school children to continue their education.
"Apart from that, JICT is also implementing a reforestation program by planting mangroves and processing waste," he said.
Raditya added, JICT in its greening efforts also supported one of the state schools which succeeded in getting a MURI Record for Recycling Used Cooking Oil, as well as helping to reduce child stunting rates and providing health facilities for underprivileged communities in the Koja area, North Jakarta.
