 - In order to improve services for Ship to Ship Transfer activities in Muara Jawa waters, the Ministry of Transportation cq Directorate General of Sea Transportation through the Kuala Samboja Class III Port Organizing Unit (UPP) Office together with the Port Business Entity (BUP) PT. Tiga Bersaudara Port has signed an Operational Cooperation Agreement (KSO) regarding Port Services for Ship to Ship Transfer Operations in Muara Jawa Waters, Kutai Kertanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province.


The signing of the KSO was carried out by the Head of the Kuala Samboja Class III Port Management Unit (UPP) Office, Capt. Benny Berkiah Pandelaki with Main Director, Port Business Entity (BUP) PT. Tiga Bersaudara Port, Ika Pusparini, on Tuesday (11/6) at the Head Office of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation, witnessed by the Director General of Sea Transportation, Dr. Capt. Antoni Arif Priadi.


According to the Director General Capt. Antoni, the Muara Jawa waters area is a water area that functions as a port based on the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number: KP 382 of 2010 concerning Determination of Port Locations for ship to ship transfer activities in Muara Jawa Waters, East Kalimantan Province as amended with the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number: KM 244 of 2020.


"The main objective of carrying out ship to ship transfer activities in Muara Jawa waters is to improve the quality, efficiency of management and optimization in the provision and/or services of port services, including efforts to increase state income through the payment of concession revenues as "Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP)," said Capt. Antony


"This KSO agreement was carried out with reference to the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number KP 508 of 2010 dated 17 December 2010 which gave permission to the Port Operator to collaborate with PT Pelabuhan Tiga Bersaudara to operate Muara Jawa Waters as a port for transshipment activities (Ship to Ship Transfer). )”, he added.


According to him, with the signing of this cooperation agreement, in the future it will certainly become a legality or basis for providing legal certainty regarding the port service activities of transshipment of goods between ships (ship to ship transfer) in the waters of Muara Jawa, Kutai Kertanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, up to with later Concessions for Certain Areas in Muara Jawa Waters, Kutai Kertanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province in accordance with statutory provisions.


Apart from that, with the signing of this Cooperation Agreement, the Ministry of Transportation cq Directorate General of Sea Transportation through the Kuala Samboja Class III Port Organizing Unit (UPP) Office has officially collaborated in operations with the Port Business Entity (BUP), namely PT. Tiga Bersaudara Port to carry out port services for the transfer of goods between ships (ship to ship transfer) in the Muara Jawa Waters area, Kutai Kertanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province.


"This ship to ship operation cooperation agreement is valid for 3 (three) years from the time this agreement is signed by both parties, or until the concession agreement for the exploitation of a certain area in waters which functions as a port in Muara Jawa waters is signed," said Capt. Antony.


On this occasion, Capt. Antoni also reminded that the most important thing that must be considered in carrying out Ship to Ship Transfer activities in Muara Jawa is to maintain shipping security and safety, order in the port facilities operated and maintain the sustainability of the maritime environment, including the provision of auxiliary facilities.
