SURABAYA (ISL News) - PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) reaffirmed its commitment to building a work safety culture by holding the 2026 Q2 Safety Forum at TPK Teluk Lamong on Wednesday (15/7). Themed "Lessons Learned by Pelindo Group Fatalities in 2026 and Blind Spot Awareness," the event served as a platform for sharing lessons learned from various incidents, raising awareness of potential work risks, and strengthening the synergy of safety implementation with all stakeholders in the port environment.
This commitment is reflected in the achievement of 25,372,483 safe working hours at TPK Teluk Lamong during the April–June 2026 period, which was achieved through the collaboration of 175 workers in the TPK Teluk Lamong work area with 945 workers from work partners in carrying out terminal operations safely and reliably.
The Safety Forum activity for the second quarter of 2026 was attended by the management of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong along with strategic partners who support terminal operations, namely PT Pelindo Daya Sejahtera, PT BIMA, PT APERINDO, PT Lamong Energi Indonesia, the Coordinator of the Indonesian Port Cooperative, PT Puskopal, PT Pelindo Husada Citra, PT MTI, PT TEDS, PT NPMA, and PT BST. The presence of all these partners reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the implementation of the Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) culture through collaboration, communication, and the application of consistent work safety standards throughout the operational areas of Terminal Teluk Lamong.
As a commitment to safety and environmental sustainability, the event began with a tree planting event with stakeholders in the Teluk Lamong Terminal area. This initiative symbolized collaboration in creating a safe, green, and sustainable work environment.
The Safety Forum was officially opened by the Director of Operations and Engineering at PT Terminal Teluk Lamong, Muhammad Syukur, who emphasized that occupational safety must become a culture embedded in every operational activity, not just a matter of fulfilling regulatory obligations.
"Safety is a core value that cannot be compromised. All company employees and business partners share the same responsibility to ensure every job is carried out safely so that every worker can return home safe. A safety culture must be built through care, discipline, and the courage to remind each other," said Muhammad Syukur.
The next keynote was delivered by Pierre Rochel Tumbol, Terminal Head of TPK Teluk Lamong. He encouraged all participants to use every incident that occurs within the Pelindo Group as a valuable lesson to strengthen the workplace accident prevention system.
"Every incident is a reminder that risks are inherent in every operational activity. The most important thing is how we learn from each incident, conduct a thorough evaluation, and ensure that all preventative measures are truly implemented in the field. Safety is a shared responsibility and must be embedded in every work process," said Pierre Rochel Tumbol.
In the main session, participants received a presentation on Pelindo Group's 2026 Fatality Lessons Learned, which reviewed the chronology of several fatal incidents, their causes, and control measures to prevent similar incidents. This material is expected to improve participants' ability to identify potential hazards, strengthen a reporting culture, and ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with applicable safety procedures.
The forum also featured material on Blind Spot Awareness, which discussed the importance of being aware of confined areas that are not directly visible to heavy equipment operators and operational vehicle drivers. Given the high mobility of loading and unloading equipment and vehicles in terminal areas, understanding blind spots is a crucial aspect in preventing workplace accidents and improving the safety of all workers in operational areas.
PT Terminal Teluk Lamong continues to strengthen the implementation of HSSE culture through communication, education, and continuous learning to support the creation of a competitive and world-class port ecosystem.
