PATIMBAN WEST JAVA (ISL News) - The Class II Patimban Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP) recorded the implementation of the first international container import activity through the visit of the MV. MSC CARLA III at the Patimban Port Container Terminal.
This momentum complements the achievement of the first international container export that was carried out the previous week, so that Patimban Port is increasingly ready to serve international container exports and imports regularly as part of the development of Indonesia's logistics connectivity with the international shipping network.
MV. MSC CARLA III berthed (Actual Time Berthing/ATB) at the Patimban Port Container Terminal on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 02:06 WIB from Singapore and completed loading and unloading activities on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 11:42 WIB. The ship then continued its voyage to Pasir Gudang (Malaysia), Laem Chabang (Thailand), Shanghai, and Ningbo (China) as part of the regular Enhanced Seahorse Service.
During the visit, loading and unloading activities reached 1,632 TEUs, consisting of 1,248 TEUs of export cargo and 384 TEUs of import cargo. In terms of container units, exports recorded 624 boxes, consisting of 208 filled containers and 416 empty containers, while imports totaled 192 boxes, all of which were filled containers.
The imported goods unloaded during the visit included BYD vehicle components, which will then be distributed to the BYD factory in Subang Regency, West Java. This import service is expected to further support the smooth flow of the industrial sector's supply chain and strengthen Patimban Port's role in serving the logistics needs of West Java's industrial areas.
Meanwhile, the export commodities loaded through Patimban Port during this visit were paper raw materials, which are marketed to various destination countries through the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) international shipping network. This demonstrates that Patimban Port is not only a gateway for national export commodities but is also beginning to play a role as an entry point for industrial raw materials through regularly scheduled international shipping services.
This suite of services further strengthens Patimban Port's position as part of the international shipping network in the Asian region. After serving its first international container exports the previous week, Patimban Port is now also serving international container imports.
This development indicates that Patimban Port is increasingly ready to serve exports and imports, so it is expected to be able to provide alternative logistics services for the business world while supporting the development of industrial areas in West Java and the surrounding area.
Head of the Patimban Class II KSOP Office, Mohd. Arief Agustian, said that the development of international container services is an important step in strengthening the function of Patimban Port as a national logistics hub.
"The implementation of the first international container import activity complements the export services that began the previous week. This demonstrates that Patimban Port is increasingly ready to serve exports and imports, and is expected to become an alternative international logistics gateway that supports industrial growth, investment, and the national economy," said Arief.
