SURABAYA INDONESIA (ISL News) – PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) continues to expand the impact of its "Oxygen Donation" environmental sustainability program by planting mangroves in the Romokalisari Adventure Land area, Benowo District, Surabaya, on Saturday (June 27). This activity is part of a continuing mangrove nursery and planting program being implemented in stages in various coastal areas.

In this activity, 2,000 mangrove seedlings were planted by the Omah Boso Foundation, the implementing partner in the field. This planting follows previous activities, where TPS planted 3,000 mangrove seedlings in the Sontoh Laut area of Surabaya, and 2,000 seedlings in the Manyar area of Gresik, bringing the total number of mangrove seedlings planted in the coastal areas of Surabaya and Gresik to 7,000.

The “Oxygen Donation” program is a sustainable TPS initiative that covers processes from upstream to downstream, starting from nurseries, maintenance, to distribution and planting of mangroves at various coastal points to expand green areas.

With this planting in the Romokalisari area, TPS is further expanding the benefits of mangroves, particularly in supporting coastal environmental sustainability in West Surabaya. In addition to serving as a natural barrier against abrasion, mangroves also contribute to carbon sequestration and improve the quality of coastal ecosystems.

TPS Corporate Secretary, Erika Asih Palupi, said that this program is a form of the company's long-term commitment to maintaining environmental sustainability through an integrated approach.

"The Oxygen Donation Program is TPS's ongoing effort to ensure that every mangrove nursery process has a tangible impact through planting in various coastal areas. This activity in Romokalisari is part of expanding these benefits, so that TPS's contribution to the environment continues to grow," said Erika.

He added that collaboration with various parties, including the Omah Boso Foundation, was an important factor in the success of this program.

"Synergy with implementing partners like the Omah Boso Foundation is key to ensuring the program's sustainability and effectiveness, so that its ecological and social benefits can be felt more widely by the community," he added.

Through this program, TPS not only contributes to environmental conservation, but also supports climate change mitigation, reduces the risk of abrasion, and provides added value to coastal areas as environmentally-based educational and tourism spaces.

This activity is part of TPS's commitment to continue providing sustainable, nature-based solutions, while strengthening collaboration with various stakeholders in maintaining coastal sustainability for future generations.
