MAKASSAR (ISL News) - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo strengthened synergy with national and international shipping players through a Coffee Session themed "Strategic Business Discussion" which was held in the Akhlak Meeting Room, 7th Floor of the Pelindo Regional 4 Office, Makassar, Tuesday (4/8/2026).
The forum serves as a strategic dialogue space to align steps for implementing the national logistics network transformation through the Pelindo Indonesia Network Pendulum (PINP), while simultaneously strengthening collaboration in improving supply chain efficiency and Indonesia's logistics competitiveness.
The activity was attended by the Commercial Director of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Farid Padang, Executive Director 4 Pelindo Regional 4 Abdul Azis, as well as a number of port service users from shipping companies, including PT Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines (SPIL), PT Tanto Intim Line, PT Meratus Line, and SITC.
Pelindo Commercial Director, Farid Padang, said that the transformation carried out by Pelindo through PINP is not only about building a new shipping network, but also about creating a more efficient, integrated logistics ecosystem that provides benefits for all business actors.
"Through forums like this, we want to ensure that every policy and program implemented by Pelindo is developed in collaboration with our service users. Collaboration is key to creating a more reliable logistics network, increasing shipping schedule certainty, and reducing national logistics costs," said Farid.
According to him, the implementation of the PINP, targeted for this year, is aimed at reducing cargo imbalances through an integrated shipping network system, cargo consolidation, ship schedule certainty, and incentive schemes for shipping companies that can increase load coefficients. This approach is expected to strengthen connectivity between ports and increase terminal utilization across Indonesia.
Farid added that the successful implementation of PINP depends heavily on a shared commitment between Pelindo, shipping companies, and goods owners. Therefore, a series of roadshows and direct discussions with stakeholders are ongoing in various regions as part of the program's implementation phase.
Meanwhile, Executive Director 4 of Pelindo Regional 4, Abdul Azis, emphasized that the eastern region of Indonesia has a strategic role in supporting the implementation of PINP because it is one of the main nodes of the national logistics network.
"Pelindo Regional 4 is ready to be a strategic partner for all service users in implementing the various transformation initiatives the company is currently undertaking. We want to ensure that all changes made facilitate operations, increase efficiency, and create added value for customers," said Abdul Azis.
He added that input from shipping companies is a crucial part of perfecting the implementation of various transformation programs so that the policies implemented can effectively address the industry's needs.
On the same occasion, Makassar Branch Manager of PT Meratus Line, Ngurah Gede Santha Dharma, appreciated the discussion forum facilitated by Pelindo because it opened up a more intensive communication space between port operators and service users.
"Forums like this are very positive because they provide an opportunity for business players to provide direct input and understand the direction of the transformation being undertaken by Pelindo. We hope that the synergy that has been established can continue to be strengthened so that together we can improve operational efficiency and support the smooth flow of national logistics distribution," he said.
Through the Coffee Session, Pelindo hopes that closer collaboration with shipping companies will accelerate the implementation of port service transformation, strengthen connectivity between ports, and encourage the creation of a more efficient, competitive, and sustainable national logistics ecosystem. This transformation is also expected to bring mutual benefits to Pelindo and service users, ranging from ship schedule certainty, increased terminal utilization, reduced logistics costs, and increased competitiveness of national shipping.
