BALIKPAPAN
INDONESIA (ISL News) -
PT Pelindo Jasa Maritim (PJM) carried out offshore rig activities that had
completed their operations in Balikpapan waters safely and smoothly thanks to
the support of PJM's guidance and tug services. The rig was moved to be
transported back to its owner's country of origin after completing all
operational work in Indonesia.
The
rig relocation service was carried out on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 07.03
WITA to 12.40 WITA. The guidance activity was led by pilot Abdul Rahmat, who
ensured that the rig movement process ran according to safety procedures and
applicable shipping regulations. The tug operation involved three tugboat
fleets, namely TB Azzura Harbour with a 4,000 horsepower (HP) engine, KT Venus
Harbour with a 2,000 HP engine, and TB HTS 18 with a 4,070 HP engine. The
collaboration of the three tugboats supported the rig relocation maneuver
effectively and under control.
"This
service implementation is part of PJM's commitment to always provide service
excellence to service users. PJM certainly provides the best service while also
paying attention to safety aspects," explained Tubagus Patrick, SVP
Corporate Secretary of PJM.
This
rig transfer is part of a series of post-operation activities, considering that
the rig unit has completed its duties in Indonesian waters. Next, the rig will
be returned to its owner's country of origin. This activity demonstrates the
readiness of pilotage and towing services to support offshore oil and gas
industry activities and ensure the smooth and safe navigation in the port's
working area.
"The
pilot is number one, one of the best in Indonesia, the tugs are also capable
enough," said Captain Gilbert from China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL),
explaining that PJM's Pilot, which serves services in Balikpapan, is one of the
best in Indonesia. The success of this operation is expected to further
strengthen service users' trust in professional, reliable, and safety-oriented
maritime services.
