BANTEN (ISL News, June 17, 2026) – In commemoration of National Pier Day, PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 Banten introduced the reliable infrastructure of Ciwandan Port as a support for national port and logistics activities. This infrastructure includes water facilities, port protection, mooring facilities, and integrated land areas to support the smooth flow of ships and goods. This is part of Pelindo Banten's commitment to providing safe, efficient port services that are able to meet the business needs of service users.
As one of the strategic ports in Banten Province, Ciwandan Port is supported by various mooring facilities such as piers, jetties, bollards, and breasting dolphins, which function to support the safe and smooth berthing of ships. The reliability of this infrastructure is a crucial foundation for ensuring smooth loading and unloading activities and supporting the logistics movement that is the lifeblood of economic growth.
Beyond serving merchant vessels, the docks managed by Pelindo Regional 2 Banten also play a crucial role in supporting government programs during seasonal transportation periods such as Christmas and New Year (Nataru) and the Eid al-Fitr holiday. Adequate infrastructure supports optimal public services, particularly during times of increased passenger mobility and increased goods distribution.
"A dock is not just a place for ships to dock, but also a meeting point connecting economic activity, logistics distribution, and public mobility. Therefore, we continue to maintain the reliability of our infrastructure so that services can run safely, smoothly, and benefit many parties," said Benny Ariadi, General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Banten.
The operational performance of Ciwandan Port also demonstrates the infrastructure's significant contribution to port activities. From January to May 2026, Ciwandan Port served 489 vessel calls, with a total cargo flow of 1,857,275 tons. Of this volume, dry bulk cargo accounted for approximately 58.4 percent of the total volume handled, demonstrating the port's crucial role in supporting the distribution of various strategic commodities.
"This operational achievement demonstrates that well-maintained and managed infrastructure can support smooth port services. Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen service quality and ensure that Ciwandan Port remains a reliable partner for businesses and the public, providing wholehearted service," concluded Benny Ariadi.
Furthermore, Pelindo Regional 2 Banten ensures smooth service and business operations by implementing strict Occupational Safety and Health (K3) standards. This is crucial, given that operations in the port area must implement zero-mistake operational management to ensure the business continuity of the company and its partners.
Through the momentum of National Pier Day, Pelindo Regional 2 Banten affirmed its commitment to continuously providing quality port services through reliable, sustainable infrastructure management, and user-focused support. With the support of continuously maintained facilities, Ciwandan Port is expected to continue contributing to strengthening logistics connectivity and supporting regional and national economic growth.
