KUPANG INDONESIA (ISL News) – PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas Kupang (TPK Kupang) is fully committed to ensuring occupational safety and the security of port facilities by holding a fire drill simulation centered in the front yard of the TPK Kupang office on Thursday (April 23). This activity aims to test the emergency response team's response and ensure all employees and visitors understand the correct evacuation procedures.
The simulation, which began promptly at 3:00 PM WITA (Central Indonesian Time), simulated a fire in one of the office rooms. Within minutes, the alarm system sounded, and all personnel immediately evacuated to the assembly point . The internal firefighting team swiftly extinguished the fire using portable fire extinguishers (APAR).
TPK Kupang Terminal Head, Andhik Wahyu Kristianto, emphasized that this activity is a routine agenda that must be carried out to mitigate the risk of fatalities due to fires.
"Safety is our top priority ( Safety First ). Through this simulation, we want to ensure that all safety devices are functioning properly and that our personnel have the muscle memory to act calmly but quickly when a real emergency situation occurs. We want to be not only administratively prepared, but also operationally ready in the field," said Andhik Wahyu Kristianto.
This activity not only involves internal company personnel, but also provides direct education to service users and visitors who are on site during the simulation.
Jeliyati Dodo, a visitor who was processing documents in the office area when the simulation began, expressed her appreciation for the officers' alertness.
"At first, I was startled by the alarm, but the officers calmly and clearly directed us to a safe exit. This experience was very beneficial for us as residents who frequently visit here, because we learned about the safety procedures implemented by Pelindo. I feel safer in an office environment with high safety standards like this," said Jeliyati Dodo.
TPK Kupang continues to consistently strengthen the Occupational Safety and Health (K3) culture in the port environment to support the smooth, safe and reliable flow of national logistics.
