SURABAYA INDONESIA (ISL News) - Pelindo's decorated cars once again dazzled at the annual Surabaya Vaganza 2026 Flower Parade and Cultural Parade. This year, Pelindo adopted the theme "Harmony of Ocean," a concept that depicts the ocean as a beautiful, protected, and passed down space for life across generations.
Carrying the grand narrative “The Glowing Coral Garden is the garden of life, guarded by human consciousness (The Guardian of the Sea), guided by the wisdom of the ancestors of the archipelago (Batara Baruna), and continued by future generations who live in harmony with nature (Avatar Pandora Forest)”, the Pelindo float combines spectacular visual elements, cultural philosophy, and a strong message about environmental preservation.
The float's design showcases the beauty of the underwater world through The Glowing Coral Garden, adorned with sparkling coral reefs and marine life, depicting Indonesia's rich biodiversity. These elements are combined with the figure of The Guardian of the Sea, symbolizing humanity's role in preserving the ocean.
Local wisdom is also presented through the figure of Batara Baruna, who represents the noble values of the archipelago in maintaining the balance of nature. Meanwhile, a futuristic feel is embodied through the Avatar Pandora Forest concept, which depicts future generations living in harmony with nature, supported by ecosystems such as mangroves as a natural coastal barrier.
Pelindo Java Sub-Regional Head, Purwanto Wahyu Widodo, said that this year's theme reflects Pelindo's commitment as a maritime-based company to continue maintaining environmental sustainability.
"As a company closely linked to the sea, Pelindo focuses not only on economic activities but also plays an active role in preserving the maritime ecosystem. Through the theme of 'Harmony of Ocean', we want to encourage the public to see the ocean as a source of life that must be protected together," he said.
In addition to displaying decorated cars, Pelindo also continued to educate the public through environmental initiatives such as plogging along the parade route. Erika Asih Palupi, Corporate Secretary of PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS), explained that the activity was part of the green port campaign.
"We implement the eco-friendly port spirit not only in our operations but also in the community. We want to instill awareness that protecting the ocean starts with simple actions," explained Erika Asih Palupi.
As a form of support for nature conservation, Pelindo also presents symbolic plants such as bonsai and orchids, which reflect the balance between beauty and sustainability.
The participation of the Pelindo Group, comprising Pelindo Regional 3, SPTP, TPS, TTL, BJTI, PMS, and PDS, demonstrates the company's commitment to integrating culture, innovation, and environmental awareness. The Harmony of Ocean-themed floats serve not only as visual entertainment but also as educational media, inspiring the public to protect the ocean for a sustainable future.
