SOUTH LAMPUNG (ISL News) - Elements of the state patrol vessel KN. GOLOK – P.206 belonging to the Class I Tanjung Priok Sea and Coast Guard Base (PLP Kelas 1 Tanjung Priok), Directorate General of Sea Transportation (Ditjen HUBLA), Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, successfully carried out SAR operations and evacuation of 28 passengers of KMP. MUTIARA PERSADA III in the Kalianda Waters, South Lampung Regency, Sunda Strait, precisely around 2.5 Nautical Miles (NM) northeast of Tiga Island.
Based on initial information, KMP. MUTIARA PERSADA III departed from Cigading Port, Banten, on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 04.15 WIB. During the voyage, at around 09.00 WIB, the ship experienced Main Engine (ME) problems at coordinates 05°47.862' S / 105°33.083' E, requiring further handling to ensure the safety of passengers and the voyage.
In response to this situation, KN. GOLOK – P.206 carried out a rapid response search and rescue operation and passenger evacuation as part of its maritime safety duties and to protect the public using maritime transportation services.
On May 16, 2026, at 2:00 PM WIB, KN. GOLOK – P.206 headed to the scene of the incident. Subsequently, a docking maneuver was carried out and passengers were evacuated from KMP. MUTIARA PERSADA III to KN. GOLOK – P.206.
A total of 28 passengers were successfully evacuated safely and in good condition, with no reported casualties. After all passengers were declared clear on board, KN. GOLOK – P.206 headed to Panjang Port, Lampung, and at 7:30 PM WIB docked at Pier C1 of Panjang Port. The passengers were then handed over to the ship operator/PT. ALP at 7:45 PM WIB.
The operation took place in light rain, wave heights of 0.5–0.8 meters, and wind speeds of 5–10 knots, and the entire evacuation process proceeded safely, orderly, and smoothly.
Head of the Class I Tanjung Priok Sea and Coast Guard Base, Fourmansyah, SH, MM, MH, said that the safety of human life at sea is the main priority in every task carried out.
"The success of this evacuation demonstrates the readiness of KPLP personnel and state patrol vessels to respond to emergencies at sea. This demonstrates the government's presence, through the Ministry of Transportation, in ensuring the safety of maritime users."
