BANDAR LAMPUNG (ISL News) – The Panjang Area Container Terminal (IPC TPK) continues to strengthen its loading and unloading infrastructure to increase service capacity and support the smooth flow of logistics in Southern Sumatra. One of these strategic steps is the addition of a Post Panamax Quay Container Crane (QCC) that arrived at Panjang Port on the MV Zheng Hu a 37 from China.

The arrival of these new cranes is part of Pelindo Terminal Petikemas' investment program to support increased loading and unloading capacity and productivity at the terminal. With this additional equipment, IPC TPK Area Panjang now has a total of four Quality Control (QCC) units ready to enhance ship services and container flow at the terminal. This strategic step was taken in response to the significant 24% increase in container volume last year.

IPC TPK Panjang Area Manager, Anang Subagyono, emphasized that the addition of QCC is part of the company's efforts to increase port competitiveness while strengthening the national logistics chain in the Lampung region and its surroundings.

"The addition of the QCC Post Panamax is a strategic step to increase service capacity and terminal productivity. We want to ensure that the IPC TPK Panjang is able to meet the needs of service users as logistics activity and container flows increase in the Southern Sumatra region," said Anang while reviewing the arrival of the equipment.

This capacity increase aligns with the continued positive growth in container traffic at IPC TPK Panjang. Throughout 2025, the terminal recorded container throughput of 128,675 TEUs, representing a 24% increase compared to 103,700 TEUs in 2024.

The giant crane arrived at Panjang Port on the Chinese ship MV Zheng Hua 37 on Thursday (May 14, 2026). With this addition to the fleet, IPC TPK Area Panjang now has a total of four QCC units ready to optimize loading and unloading services at the main logistics gateway in Southern Sumatra.

Technically, the QCC Post Panamax boasts an outreach of 45 meters and a reach of 16 to 17 rows of containers. These specifications allow the port to serve larger capacity vessels more efficiently.

After the MV Zheng Hua 37 docks , the technical team will roll off the crane, lowering it to the terminal pier. Before full operation, the equipment will undergo a series of stages, including system installation, commissioning tests , and integration with the terminal's operational system (TOS).

Anang added that this infrastructure investment is projected to be a catalyst for regional economic growth. "The arrival of this QCC Post Panamax unit marks a new chapter in modernization at Panjang Port. We want to ensure that our infrastructure is not only capable of supporting the current trend of operational improvements but is also ready to be a major catalyst for economic growth and the smooth flow of national logistics in the Lampung region and its surroundings," Anang concluded.
