PALEMBANG INDONESIA (ISL News) - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang is conducting a Water Pollution Mitigation Assessment as a form of the company's commitment to maintaining the safety of port operations and the sustainability of the aquatic environment.
This assessment was conducted in collaboration with the Oil Spill Combat Team (OSCT), an assessment provider with expertise and experience in oil spill and marine pollution response. This collaboration aims to ensure the assessment process is comprehensive, objective, and in accordance with applicable pollution control standards.
The assessment was conducted to measure Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang's preparedness for potential pollution incidents in port waters. The assessment included the effectiveness of the pollution control system, the readiness of facilities and infrastructure, operational procedures, and the competence of human resources in responding to environmental emergencies.
The General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang, represented by the Business Compliance Manager, Iwan Sanjaya, stated that this activity was a strategic step in the context of evaluating and continuously improving the environmental protection system in the port area.
"Through this assessment, we ensure that all water pollution control systems are ready and reliable. Collaborating with OSCT is crucial for obtaining a professional evaluation to strengthen a rapid and effective response to potential environmental incidents," said Iwan.
This assessment aligns with Pelindo's commitment to consistently implementing safety, security, and environmental protection principles throughout its operations. Going forward, Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang will continue to increase its capacity and conduct regular evaluations to support safe, reliable, and sustainable port management.
