TERNATE (ISL News) - The Ternate Container Terminal (TPK) recorded positive performance in container flows throughout 2025. This achievement shows an increase compared to 2024, in line with the implementation of operational transformation focused on increasing productivity and efficiency of port services.

TPK Ternate Terminal Head, Anwar Pae, stated that in 2025, container throughput is projected to reach 56,666 boxes, equivalent to 63,923 TEUs. This figure represents an increase from 2024's 53,439 boxes, or 59,095 TEUs.

"Throughout 2025, we have recorded container traffic growth of around 6 percent compared to 2024. This achievement is a positive indicator of the effectiveness of our operational transformation and the increasing trust of our service users," he said.

Anwar further explained that this achievement is inseparable from the implementation of various operational transformation programs throughout 2025. One of these programs is the implementation of basic Container Terminal Operations (CTO) and the implementation of planning and control-based operating patterns.

"This implementation has had a direct impact on improving operational performance, as evidenced by an increase in Box Ship Hours (BSH) and a reduction in vessel port stays. This results in shorter and more efficient vessel berthing times," he added.

In addition to internal transformation, the increase in container flow is also supported by increased logistics and trade activities in the North Maluku region, stable terminal services, and good collaboration between port operators, stakeholders, and service users.

Rushan Muhammad, Head of the Ternate Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP), also expressed his appreciation for this achievement. He stated that the increase in container flow reflects improvements in terminal operational performance and solid synergy between regulators, port operators, and all stakeholders.

"Efforts to improve systems, operational patterns, and discipline in planning and control have been successful. We hope this positive performance can be maintained and enhanced to support the smooth flow of logistics and economic growth in the North Maluku region," said Rushan.

Entering 2026, PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, through its Ternate Terminal Operations Unit (TPK Ternate), is committed to continuously strengthening and improving its performance. The primary focus is on ensuring reliable and adaptive human resources (HR) are prepared to address the increasingly complex dynamics of the port industry. Furthermore, the company is preparing risk mitigation measures against various uncertainties, including equipment readiness, systems, operational patterns, and strengthening HR competencies.

With these various initiatives, TPK Ternate is optimistic that it can maintain sustainable positive performance and provide increasingly effective, efficient, and competitive container terminal services in the future.
