SURABAYA (ISL News) - PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (Pelindo TPK) provided health check-ups to 200 residents, including 100 toddlers and 100 seniors, in Surabaya. The activity, which targeted communities around the port area, was part of the company's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
Health screenings are being conducted for residents in the Asemrowo and Benowo sub-districts, located in the port's ring area. The program includes basic health checks, health monitoring, and education to support improved quality of life.
Corporate Secretary of PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, Widyaswendra, said the activity was part of a series of TJSL programs implemented by the company to coincide with the momentum of the commemoration of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
"We are conducting health checks for residents around the port area, particularly in the Asemrowo and Benowo sub-districts. We want the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia to be celebrated not only ceremonially but also through activities that directly benefit the community," said Widyaswendra.
According to him, the health check is one of a number of TJSL programs implemented by Pelindo Terminal Petikemas in a series of commemorations of the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
Previously, the company has carried out various activities including MSME bazaars, vehicle emission checks, and environmental management programs.
"The programs we run cover several aspects, from MSME empowerment to the environment, health, and education. We hope this series of activities will provide tangible benefits to the community, especially those living near the company's operational areas," he said.
Promote Awareness of Early Health Check-ups
The health checks target two age groups that require regular health monitoring: toddlers and the elderly. In addition to basic health checks, participants receive health monitoring and education on the importance of maintaining good health.
Asemrowo Sub-district Head, Mohammad Zulchaidir, appreciated the collaboration between Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, Asemrowo Sub-district and Asemrowo Community Health Center in providing health check-up services for the community.
According to Zul, health checks can help people find out about their health conditions early so that further steps can be taken if conditions that require attention are found.
"This activity is certainly very beneficial for the community, especially in identifying their health conditions early. We would like to thank Pelindo Terminal Petikemas for their concern and contribution to the community, particularly in the Asemrowo District," said Zul.
He hopes that the synergy that has been established can continue and be developed through various other programs that are in accordance with the needs of the community.
"We hope this kind of cooperation and collaboration can continue, not only in the health sector, but also in other activities that provide benefits that can be directly felt by the community," he added.
The participants' families also felt the benefits of the program. One parent of a toddler said the check-up helped her understand her child's health and provided an opportunity to consult with a healthcare professional.
"This program is very helpful for us as parents because our children can get health checkups without having to wait until they're sick. We also have a better understanding of our children's health and can consult directly with health professionals," said Sauda.
Through a series of TJSL programs, Pelindo Terminal Petikemas strives to ensure that the company's presence not only provides impact through port activities, but also provides social, economic, environmental, and health benefits to the communities surrounding its operational areas.
