JAKARTA TANJUNG PRIOK (ISL News) - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 Tanjung Priok ensures that all operational activities at Tanjung Priok Port continue to run normally amidst the heavy rainfall that has hit almost the entire DKI Jakarta area.

Executive General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok, Yandri Trisaputra, said that to date there has been no disruption to port services, either in terms of ship operations, loading and unloading, or the movement of goods.

"All terminals at Tanjung Priok Port are operating normally. Ship berthing, loading and unloading, and container movement are proceeding as planned and are experiencing no technical issues," Yandri said in a written statement on Monday evening (January 12).

In terms of freight traffic management, Pelindo ensures smooth vehicle flow within the port area. The terminal's entry and exit gate systems operate optimally, supported by field management and active coordination with terminal operators to prevent queues and vehicle buildup.

Yandri explained that potential flooding around the port has been anticipated through measured technical measures. These include actively monitoring water levels at crucial points, including the Kali Kresek floodgate, as well as cleaning and removing trash.

"Monitoring is carried out periodically to ensure that water levels remain within safe limits and do not impact port operations or the community," he explained.

"Drainage management and cleanliness of water channels in the port area are part of our mitigation efforts to ensure water flows smoothly and reduce the risk of flooding," said Yandri.

Pelindo also has water pumps on standby, ensures optimal internal drainage, and deploys operational, HSSE, and port security teams during periods of extreme weather. Coordination with the Port Authority (KSOP), local governments, and relevant agencies continues to maintain safety and ensure the smooth flow of national logistics.

He appealed to the public and port service users to increase their vigilance and caution, especially when passing through the area around the port during heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, the Tanjung Priok Main Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP) also ensures that shipping safety and security aspects are maintained amidst extreme weather conditions.

The Head of the Tanjung Priok Main Port Authority (KSOP), Capt. Heru Santoso, emphasized that his party continues to supervise all port activities, especially those related to ship safety and the smooth flow of sea and port traffic.

"The Tanjung Priok Main Port Authority (KSOP) is actively monitoring water conditions and port operations. To date, all shipping activities, ship berthing, and port services are running safely and in accordance with safety regulations," said Heru.

He added that coordination between KSOP, Pelindo, terminal operators, and related agencies continues to be carried out to anticipate the potential impacts of extreme weather, including increased rainfall in the Jakarta area and its surroundings.

"We ensure that safety procedures are followed, both by ships and port operators. Inter-agency synergy is key to ensuring smooth port services without compromising safety," he added.
