SURABAYA (ISL News) - PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL), along with its three managed terminals, TPK Lamong, TPK Berlian, and TPK Nilam, have declared their full readiness to face a potential surge in container traffic during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) periods of 2025 and 2026. All three terminals have shown positive year-on-year (YoY) traffic growth, including increases from the introduction of several new international services.
TPK Lamong recorded throughput growth almost double the monthly average as four new international services per week entered from September to November 2025. To ensure smooth operations during the Christmas and New Year period, TPK Lamong prepared various strategic steps such as maintaining BOR and YOR below 60%, increasing CY capacity through two new blocks licensed by Customs (additional capacity of around 1,000 TEUs), increasing the haulage fleet, and expanding equipment maintenance hours which are now carried out not only during the day but also at night to maintain equipment reliability amidst the increasing flow.
At TPK Berlian, various optimization measures were implemented to ensure smooth loading and unloading, including increasing equipment availability by providing critical parts and accelerating the maintenance of one HMC unit. Furthermore, TPK Berlian also optimized its transfer equipment to expedite container movement and opened a new container terminal (CY) in coordination with Pelindo Regional 3 to optimize existing land use.
Meanwhile, TPK Nilam ensures smooth operations by strengthening area flexibility and inter-terminal collaboration. Several steps taken include converting the transshipment terminal into a backup container storage area, converting the unloading terminal into a loading terminal, collaborating with TPK Berlian to increase joint capacity, and implementing a maintenance pattern at the end of working hours without waiting for ship departures to ensure equipment availability remains maintained throughout the Christmas and New Year period.
PT Terminal Teluk Lamong President Director, David Pandapotan Sirait, emphasized TTL's readiness to maintain smooth national operations and logistics, especially during the peak season. "With all these preparations, TTL ensures that the increase in container volume during the Christmas and New Year period can be handled smoothly, safely, and efficiently. Capacity increases, area flexibility, and equipment optimization across all terminals are concrete evidence of our readiness," he said. "We have prepared all these strategic steps to accelerate ship port stays and cargo movement, so that the national logistics flow is maintained," David concluded.
