SURABAYA (ISL News) - PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS), a subsidiary of PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (SPTP), has the opportunity to be the venue for the 2025 East Java Export Festival. The activity, initiated by the East Java Provincial Trade and Industry Office, was held on Wednesday (26/11). The determination of TPS as the venue for the Export Festival and Export Release was carried out with consideration of alignment with the role of TPS container terminals with a proportion of services to international containers of more than 95% compared to services to domestic containers equivalent to less than 5% of the total TPS loading and unloading volume.
At the festival's peak event, the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, officially released six trucks of export products from East Java's SMEs and Foreign Exchange Villages worth a total of USD 351.6 thousand or equivalent to IDR 5.8 billion.
"TPS is committed to being a partner in encouraging increased exports in East Java. With the support of strong and experienced tools, facilities and resources, TPS is ready to continue supporting the strengthening of international trade growth ," said the President Director of TPS, Wahyu Widodo, when closing the sharing presentation about TPS which was delivered at the Seminar "Seeing Export Potential and Economic Growth in 2026", as one of the speakers, along with speakers from the Indonesian Export Financing Institution Region III, Dessy Dania, and the Directorate General of National Export Development of the Ministry of Trade, Dwinanto Rumpoko.
As one of the container terminals within the Pelindo/SPTP Group, TPS has recorded solid export and import performance. In 2024, TPS recorded 743,000 TEUs of exports and 765,000 TEUs of imports, with projections for even higher figures in 2025 as trade activity increases.
To accelerate loading and unloading performance as a form of implementing the commitment to support trade growth for faster, more efficient services and remain within high occupational safety & health standards, TPS is gradually adding and rejuvenating equipment, which is scheduled for completion and ready for operation in the second semester of 2026. One of the strategic steps to increase effectiveness and efficiency is the replacement of 4 (four) Quay Container Crane (QCC) units, utilizing clean and environmentally friendly electricity sources and twin lifts that can speed up the loading and unloading process. This QCC modernization is projected to increase the dock's handling capacity from the current 1.9 million TEUs to 2.3 million TEUs per year.
TPS has also added 14 Rubber Tyred Gantries (RTGs) to strengthen operations in the Container Yard (CY), utilizing clean and environmentally friendly electricity sources. This addition will increase CY's handling capacity by 52%—from 3.3 million TEUs to 5 million TEUs.
The effectiveness and strengthening of services at the TPS are also carried out by implementing gate automation , the availability of fumigation and salt skin inspection services, the availability of railway facilities up to the terminal so that customers are free to choose the mode of transportation for goods used, inspection of goods with container scanners and data connectivity with all related parties including shipping companies, Customs & Excise and Quarantine through the Indonesia National Single Window (INSW).
The 2025 East Java Export Festival also marked a significant milestone for Governor Khofifah in inaugurating 72 new Foreign Exchange Villages, bringing the total number of Foreign Exchange Villages in East Java to 293.
"Surabaya Container Terminal, as a member of the Pelindo/SPTP Group, is implementing a sustainable transformation to support the strengthening of the competitiveness of the integrated logistics industry for East Java's export growth at the global level ," Wahyu concluded.
