MERAUKE (ISL News) - PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas or SPTP ensures that port services at the Merauke Container Terminal (TPK) continue to run normally and are not disrupted following the riot incident that occurred in the Merauke Port area on Tuesday evening, April 9, 2025. Loading and unloading activities and services to other port service users are running normally without significant obstacles.
The incident that occurred in the area around the port did not have a direct impact on terminal facilities or port operations. The management together with stakeholders, especially security forces, have taken quick steps to secure the area and ensure that terminal operations continue to run safely and smoothly.
"The terminal's operational services continue to run normally as usual, last night the disembarkation of KM Tatamailau passengers totaling 416 people was well controlled," said Head of the Merauke TPK Terminal, Muhammad Rasul Irmadani.
As a port operator, SPTP always coordinates with various parties for operational security, because the port is one of the national vital objects that must be sterile from activities that have the potential to disrupt security so that service users feel safe.
"Security is an aspect that we pay great attention to so that service users feel safe and comfortable in carrying out activities in the port environment, we also appeal to the public to maintain security at Merauke Port," concluded Muhammad Rasul Irmadani.
In addition, SPTP continues to be committed to providing the best service for service users, as well as maintaining the smooth flow of national logistics, especially in eastern Indonesia. The company emphasized that port security is an important aspect. As a gateway for logistics and trade distribution, ports have a strategic role in supporting the national economy. Therefore, any potential disruption must be prevented as early as possible through strong synergy between port operators, security forces, the community and all stakeholders.
The distribution of this assistance was in the form of 500 (five hundred) basic food packages which were distributed to community members participating in the North Jakarta PMI Blood Donor Humanitarian Program.
