SURABAYA INDONESIA (ISL News) – Container flow at PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) from January to November 2024 increased by 9.27% compared to the same period in 2023. In the eleventh month of 2023, the number of container flows was recorded at 1,314,988 TEUs, while in the same period in 2024 the number increased to 1,436,951 TEUs.
This increase was driven by the contribution of international container flows, which in 2023 were recorded at 1,251,165 TEUs and increased to 1,367,203 TEUs in 2024, an increase of 9.27%. Meanwhile, domestic container flows increased by 9.28%, from 63,823 TEUs in 2023 to 69,748 TEUs in 2024.
The comparison of container flows between exports and imports in the period from January to November 2024 was 49% (673,757 TEUs) for export containers and 51% (693,446 TEUs) for import containers. Compared to the same period in 2023, the percentage comparison of export and import container flows did not change. In 2023, exports contributed 49% with a container flow of 617,681 TEUs, while imports were recorded at 633,484 TEUs or 51% of the total container flow.
In addition, the number of ship visits until November 2024 also increased by 0.9%, with a total of 1,111 ship visits compared to the same period in 2023 which recorded 1,101 ship visits.
TPS President Director, Wahyu Widodo, said that TPS continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the growth of the national logistics sector, by recording a significant increase in container flows until November 2024. This achievement is a manifestation of the contribution of container flows that continue to grow.
In terms of loading and unloading performance, TPS also recorded a significant increase, with an achievement of 54 boxes/ship/hour, exceeding the loading and unloading performance set by the Ministry of Transportation through the Tanjung Perak Main Port Authority Office in Surabaya (48 boxes/ship/hour). TPS still leads the market share with a percentage of 83% at Tanjung Perak Port.
