TANJUNG EMAS SEMARANG (ISL News) - The Class 1 Tanjung Emas Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP) noted that 23 foreign-flagged tourist ships docked at Tanjung Emas port during 2024.
The ships brought down 16,331 foreign tourists or wisman with 23 arrivals. The number increased by 5,631 people or 52.63% from the previous year (2023) which amounted to 10,700 foreign tourists with 18 ships.
Head of the Tanjung Emas KSOP Office, Capt. Mochamad Abduh, revealed that the highest number was in February 2024, namely 5,506 people with a total of 6 ship visits.
"The number of ship visits carrying foreign tourists at Tanjung Emas Port in 2024 is the highest in the last 4 years," said Capt. M Abduh.
The visit of tourist ships in the last 4 years had stopped during the Covid-19 period. During that period from 2021 to early 2022, no tourist ships docked. This was related to the central government's policy in preventing Covid-19.
When asked about the availability of dock facilities, Capt. Mochamad Abduh said that the ocean dock has been raised, making it safe for disembarkation and embarkation of tourist ships.
"The Port Business Entity, Pelindo has raised the ocean pier by 300 meters from the total length of the pier of 575 meters. With an average length of tourist ships of 150 meters or even more, tourist ships dock at the ocean pier that has been raised so that it is safe from tidal water for embarkation and disembarkation activities," explained Capt. M Abduh.
Foreign tourists who disembark in Tanjung Emas visit tourist attractions in Central Java. This will certainly spur economic growth through the tourism sector.
For additional information, tourist ships docked at Tanjung Emas port in 2022 were 5 ships carrying 1848 foreign tourists. In 2023, 18 ships with 10,700 foreign tourists.
