Pelindo Multi Terminal or SPMT Ensures Smooth Unloading of Rice Commodities, Strengthens National Food Security

 – Tanjung Priok Port, Jamrud Nilam Mirah Port in Surabaya, and Tanjung Emas Port in Semarang, are the Three Largest Loading and Unloading Terminals for BULOG Rice Commodities


PT Pelindo Multi Terminal (SPMT), a subholding of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia or Pelindo which operates in the multipurpose service sector, ensures the smooth unloading process of BULOG's rice commodities to support the government's program in strengthening national food security.


This is a follow-up to the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Pelindo and BULOG regarding the provision of food commodity loading and unloading services in December 2023.


There are sixteen ports managed by SPMT in serving the process of unloading BULOG's rice commodities, namely the ports of Belawan, Malahayati, Lhokseumawe, Dumai, Tanjung Emas (Semarang), Tanjung Intan (Cilacap), Jamrud Nilam Mirah (Surabaya), Tanjung Wangi (Banyuwangi), Balikpapan, Makassar, and Lembar. In addition, this rice commodity unloading service is also carried out through SPMT's subsidiary, namely PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (PTP Nonpetikemas) including the ports of Teluk Bayur (Padang), Palembang, Panjang (Bandar Lampung), Tanjung Priok, as well as Pontianak and Kijing.


SPMT President Director, Ary Henryanto explained that until November 2024, SPMT Group has handled the unloading of BULOG rice commodities reaching a total load of 2.36 million tons. Of that amount, SPMT handled 1.38 million tons (58%) with the largest ports in Jamrud Nilam Mirah (416,378 tons) and Tanjung Emas (377,095 tons), while PTP Nonpetikemas handled 983 thousand tons (42%) with the largest port in Tanjung Priok (628,198 tons).


"SPMT is committed to always providing the best service to all service users in all terminals managed by SPMT from the eastern to the western tip of Indonesia, including in the unloading of BULOG's rice commodities. SPMT is committed to providing operational services 24 hours a day and 7 days a week (24/7) for the smooth flow of goods at the port, especially the trend of goods flow that will increase during the 2024/2025 Nataru moment," said Ary.

 

Running Smoothly and On Time

Likewise, PTP Nonpetikemas President Director Indra Hidayat Sani revealed that PTP Nonpetikemas is committed to ensuring smooth loading and unloading operations based on planning & control which can have an impact on efficiency and speed, as well as maintaining optimal service quality.


"We ensure that all cargo unloading processes run smoothly and on time to support even food distribution in various regions throughout Indonesia," he said.
