WEST KALIMANTAN (ISL News) - Kijing Terminal, which was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on August 9, 2022, which is operated by PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (PTP Non Petikemas) has developed into a strategic international port activity center in the West Kalimantan region.
Since its inauguration, the port has recorded significant improvements, including a surge in ship visits and cargo flows. In Semester I of 2024, PTP Nonpetikemas Branch Pontianak recorded a production increase of more than 10.5% compared to the same period in 2023.
The Kijing Terminal also makes a significant contribution to the completion and operation of one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) for the Development of the Smelter Grade Alumina Refinery (SGAR) owned by PT Borneo Alumina Indonesia (PT BAI) which was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on September 24, 2024, where all logistics activities in the form of raw materials and production results from PT BAI's SGAR will go through the Kijing Terminal.
In relation to this, PTP Nonpetikemas, which is a subsidiary of PT Pelindo Multi Terminal, part of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Group, continues to improve its capabilities by gradually adding loading and unloading equipment, adding human resources and improving its competence, using the Pelindo Terminal Operation System Multipurpose (PTOSM) for operational services and transforming operational service standards.
Currently, the number of loading and unloading equipment operated by PTP Non-container at Kijing Terminal is 5 Mobile Crane Units, 3 Excavator Units, 2 Wheel Loader Units, 1 Mobile Conveyor Unit, 2 Forklift Units, 1 mini excavator unit, 4 hopper units, 6 grabs units, and other supporting loading and unloading equipment.
The loading and unloading equipment will continue to be added gradually, where in the near future there will be an addition of 2 Mobile Crane units and 2 Harbor Mobile Crane units, along with supporting loading and unloading equipment so that it can accommodate the activities of SGAR PT BAI and other customers who use the Kijing Terminal.
PTP Non-Petikemas President Director Indra Hidayat Sani said that as a multipurpose port operator, PTP Non-Petikemas is fully committed to supporting National Strategic Projects, including mineral downstream projects such as SGAR.
"The success of the first bauxite injection shows that PTP Nonpetikemas is ready to support national industrialization through reliable and efficient port services. PTP Nonpetikemas Branch Pontianak Terminal Kijing is committed to improving services through operational transformation, including the implementation of the Pelindo Terminal Operation System-Multipurpose (PTOS-M)," said Indra.
Indra added that the operational transformation carried out by PTP Nonpetikemas not only increased efficiency, but also ensured operational safety and security at the Kijing Terminal.
"We continue to innovate by implementing six pillars of port reform that include Business Process, Human Resources, Technology, Equipment, Infrastructure, and HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment). We do this to ensure that all operational activities run smoothly and safely," he explained.
The first bauxite injection into SGAR is an important step towards the full operation of the smelter scheduled for October 2024. PTP Nonpetikemas is committed to continuing to provide the best service in supporting SGAR operations and other downstream projects to support national economic growth by increasing the added value of Indonesia's natural resources.
