BENOA BALI (ISL News) -
Pelindo announced the construction of an Indonesian marina tourism center at Benoa Port, precisely at the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH). The marina is prepared to have 180 docks and can accommodate more than 50 superyachts up to 90 meters long.

The marina, which is projected to start operating in the second half of 2025, is expected to become a maritime tourism hub in Indonesia, and provide a multiplier effect on changes in the butterfly route cruise concept in Indonesia such as Tanjung Emas Port, Tanjung Perak, Gilimas, Labuan Bajo, Raja Ampat and others.

Pelindo through its subholding, PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik (SPSL), which is engaged in logistics and area development, is developing BMTH in several stages. In this development, SPSL is collaborating with PT Kharisma Anugrah Jawara Abadi (KAJA) and PT Marina Development Indonesia (MDI) to optimize BMTH Development Area 1. KAJA will develop and manage the entertainment zone . Meanwhile, MDI will develop and manage the marina by providing service facilities on the water and land entertainment facilities such as yacht clubs , restaurants, and also yacht service stations with international standards.

"We are committed to supporting the realization of BMTH Development Area I by providing a festival ground and restaurant," said Ronald Widjadi, Director of KAJA.

“Indonesia deserves a first-class marina that reflects its status as the world’s new yachting paradise ,” said Ulf Backlund, President Director of MDI.

“The new marina in Bali embodies our vision to position Indonesia as a key player in the global maritime industry, combining a comfortable experience and quality services, as well as safe and world-class infrastructure,” said Arif Suhartono, President Director of Pelindo.

As an effort to promote BMTH's presence to the international world, Pelindo held Sail to Indonesia Goes to BMTH on 2-4 October 2024. More than 50 yachts from dozens of countries attended BMTH during their journey in the Sail to Indonesia Rally.

Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Karya Sumadi, in his remarks at the Welcoming Ceremony appreciated the organization of the event and supported Pelindo's steps to strengthen national maritime and logistics connectivity.

"The implementation of Sail to Indonesia Goes to BMTH reflects Pelindo's commitment to improving Indonesia's maritime capabilities as a key global maritime hub . This event also has a dual purpose, namely to promote Bali's appeal as a global tourist destination and make it a center for maritime activities," he said.

In line with the statement of the Minister of Transportation, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno also expressed his support for the organization of the event. "Bali will have an important opportunity to promote marine tourism destinations in Indonesia, and encourage foreign and domestic tourists to visit, as well as promote Bali tourism through social media and other media channels ," said Sandiaga.

A series of welcoming ceremonies, cultural arts performances, food bazaars and UMKM were presented to welcome the Yachters and fill their time while docked in Benoa.

As the highlight of the event, the Benoa Port Jazz & Culture Festival will also be held on October 4, 2024, presenting performances by top Indonesian singers such as Ghea Indrawari, Kunto Aji, Adikara, Sore, Karimata ft Amelia Ong and also Padi Reborn.

SPSL President Director, Joko Noerhudha, expressed his hope that the efforts to introduce BMTH to the international community in the Sail to Indonesia Goes to BMTH event will bring continuity and in the future BMTH will be realized as a maritime tourism hub in Indonesia.

"The development of BMTH is expected to strengthen Indonesia's position as a major destination for maritime tourism, in line with the success of the Sail to Indonesia Goes to BMTH event which has attracted the attention of yachters and the public and showcased the cultural richness and potential of the country's maritime tourism," concluded Joko.
