JAKARTA TANJUNG PRIOK (ISL News) -
Jakarta International Container Terminal or JICT, the largest container terminal in Indonesia located in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, has once again received a new service called Asia-Indian Subcontinent 5 or AIS5.

AIS5 is a joint service of 3 shipping lines, namely Wan Hai, Interasia Lines (IAL) and KMTC which started on April 26 2024.

AIS5 connects Jakarta – Surabaya – Singapore – Port Klang(N), Mundra – Nhave Sheva – North Port Klang and Jakarta. This service will rotate in 28 days using 4 ships at a weekly frequency.

On its first visit to Jakarta, AIS5 Service used the KMTC Yokohama, a Liberian-flagged container ship built in 2020.

Deputy Main Director of PT JICT-Budi Cahyono who also oversees the Commercial Department together with shipping representatives welcomed the arrival of the KMTC Yokohama ship at JICT pier.

"As a berth, we always strive to improve our loading and unloading services to meet the needs of our service users. The arrival of this new service gives pride in the trust that continues to be given to JICT. "With this new route, it is hoped that it can continue to contribute to the flow of goods in Tanjung Priok and of course improve the Indonesian economy," said Budi Cahyono.

Meanwhile, General Manager of KMTC Jakarta, M. Trisno, who was present at the welcoming ceremony for the inaugural AIS5 ship, also expressed his joy at the start of this new service.

"We hope that this service will call regularly with maximum loading and unloading capacity," he said.

The captain of the KMTC ship-Mr. Hong Yoon Hyung, along with the crew who were met by the JICT management delegation (Budi Cahyono-Deputy Main Director, Rommy F-Senior Manager Marketing and Commercial Team) at the dock also expressed their appreciation for the reception of the Maiden Call.

KMTC Yokohama is a ship with a length of 196 meters with a width of 32 meters and is currently recorded as having a draft of 10.6 meters.

JICT is currently planning to deepen the pool and strengthen the pier which will be completed in 2025. And for all loading and unloading equipment at JICT, JICT has used electricity as an effort to create a green port.
