JAKARTA (ISL News) - The Directorate General of Sea Transportation through the Directorate of Sea and Coast Guard Units (KPLP) continues to strive to improve human resources (HR) for qualified ship accident examiners who master the procedures and procedures for examining ship accidents in accordance with national regulations and international regulations. .
"As Law Number 17 of 2008 concerning Shipping states, the Harbormaster's authority is to carry out ship accident inspections in the context of preliminary examinations, so that quality human resources are needed who master ship accident inspection procedures in accordance with applicable regulations," said Jon Kenedi when opening the Capacity Building Seminar. Ship Accident Inspection for Fiscal Year 2024 at the Aruna Hotel Senggigi Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara on Tuesday (7/5/2024).
According to Jon Kenedi, the ship accident examination aims to produce a Preliminary Examination Report (BAPP) for ship accidents that complies with the provisions.
"Therefore, ship accident inspection officers must really master all applicable regulations to be implemented in their respective places of duty if a ship accident occurs so that the inspection can be carried out professionally and with integrity," he said.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the acceleration of reporting of ship accidents, including foreign ship accidents that occurred in Indonesian waters, should receive serious attention by utilizing advances in communications technology.
"When an accident occurs, the ship accident report sent to the leadership must come from the head of the local UPT using existing reporting infrastructure that is most quickly accessible by utilizing advances in communication technology to speed up the reporting," explained Jon Kenedi.
The KPLP Directorate is committed to continuing to collaborate and work together with all parties in improving shipping safety in Indonesian waters.
"We as members of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation as stakeholders in the world of maritime transportation, must work together to improve the safety and security of shipping," concluded Jon Kenedi.
The Seminar on Improving Ship Accident Inspection Capabilities carries the theme "Effective and Efficient Preliminary Inspections with an OPTIMIC Approach (Outcome, Professional, Resilient, Innovative, Serving, Integrity, Synergy) which is attended by ship accident examiners representing UPT within the Directorate General of Sea Transportation as well as presenting resource persons from P&I, the Shipping Court and the Legal Section of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation.
