JAKARTA TANJUNG PRIOK (ISL News) — PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 Tanjung Priok ensures that operational activities and port services at Tanjung Priok Port continue to run normally for 24 hours amidst the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau and the potential spread of volcanic ash in the Banten and Jakarta areas.
Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok continues to monitor environmental conditions around the port, particularly regarding visibility, vessel activity, loading and unloading activities, as well as weather and water conditions. Monitoring is carried out as part of a precautionary measure to ensure port operations continue with safety as a priority.
Yandri Trisaputra, Executive General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok, stated that port operations are currently operating normally. However, increased vigilance and monitoring of actual conditions on the ground are still being implemented.
"Tanjung Priok Port operations remain normal at this time. However, we continue to monitor actual conditions on the ground and coordinate with the KSOP, BMKG, and relevant agencies. Any developments that could potentially impact safety will be taken into consideration in operational decision-making," said Yandri on Monday, September 7, 2026.
According to Yandri, the activity of Mount Anak Krakatau is a shared concern, particularly in relation to shipping safety and worker activities in open areas. Therefore, all activities within the port area will continue to be carried out with due regard to actual conditions and the results of risk assessments.
"In principle, we will maintain smooth service, but safety is our priority. If conditions on the ground indicate risks, such as reduced visibility or unsafe weather or water conditions, operational steps will be adjusted based on the assessment results and directions from the relevant authorities," said Yandri.
Cruises Continue
Meanwhile, shipping operations to and from Tanjung Priok Port will continue until September 7, 2026. PT PELNI (Persero) will continue to operate ships as scheduled, adhering to safety guidelines from the Port Authority (KSOP), the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), and relevant agencies.
Meanwhile, the Tanjung Priok Main Port Authority has not yet issued a Shipping Notice or Circular Letter ordering the cessation or restriction of shipping due to the volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau.
According to information from the Tanjung Priok Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Mount Anak Krakatau remains at Level III (Alert). The continuous eruption has ended, and Strombolian eruptions are currently underway. Mariners are advised to remain vigilant and stay within a 3-kilometer radius of the epicenter of Mount Anak Krakatau's activity.
BMKG also stated that currently there is no indication of a tsunami due to the activity of Mount Anak Krakatau.
Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok urges all workers, partners, and customers to remain vigilant regarding the potential spread of volcanic ash. Workers working in open areas are asked to wear masks and PPE appropriate to the conditions and to pay attention to visibility and environmental conditions.
Pelindo Regional 2 will continue to monitor the development of the condition of Mount Anak Krakatau and coordinate with KSOP, BMKG, and related agencies to ensure safe and smooth operational activities.
