SURABAYA (ISL News)– Pelindo held a series of socializations on the implementation of additional services in the form of container scanners for customers who are members of the East Java National Importers Association (GINSI), the East Java Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI/ILFA), and the East Java Indonesian Export Companies Association (GPEI).
The socialization activities were carried out in stages in the Toba Room, Surabaya Container Terminal, respectively on September 10, 2026 for GINSI, September 15, 2026 for ALFI/ILFA, and September 16, 2026 for GPEI, with the aim of providing an understanding of the container scanning service mechanism that will support the smooth process of goods inspection in the port area.
The implementation of container scanning services demonstrates Pelindo's support for the implementation of the state's duties and responsibilities through the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, ensuring the security of commodities distributed through ports, both for import and export activities. The use of scanning technology is expected to support more effective monitoring processes while maintaining the smooth flow of national logistics.
The socialization activity was also attended by various stakeholders in the logistics and port ecosystem, including the management and members of GINSI East Java, ALFI/ILFA East Java, and GPEI East Java, the Tanjung Perak Customs Office, the Tanjung Perak Main Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP), and the East Java Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Agency. The presence of all parties is expected to strengthen a shared understanding regarding the implementation of container scanning services and their respective roles in supporting the security and smoothness of the national logistics chain.
The socialization presented operational procedures for the container scanning service, along with a simulation of its implementation, which involved coordination with Customs and Excise. Through a discussion and question-and-answer session, participants had the opportunity to understand the service procedures and provide input to support effective implementation in the field.
Sub Regional Head of Java PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 3, Purwanto Wahyu Widodo, said that the implementation of container scanning services is not only aimed at improving the quality of services at the port, but also as part of support for the implementation of the monitoring and security functions of goods entering and leaving the port.
"Through this service, we want to support the government's efforts, particularly Customs and Excise, in ensuring the security of commodities distributed through ports. This outreach is important so that all service users understand the service mechanisms implemented, ensuring effective implementation, supporting oversight, and maintaining the smooth operation of the national supply chain," he said.
The container scanning service is expected to strengthen the security aspects of container inspections through the use of technology, while simultaneously supporting a more effective and efficient service process. With a strong understanding from all service users, the implementation of this service is expected to support the creation of a safe, reliable, and competitive logistics system.
