SURABAYA INDONESIA (ISL News) - As a form of concern for the community affected by the earthquake disaster in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), the Tanjung Perak Main Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP) together with the Pelindo Group consisting of PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) and PT Pelindo Marine Service (PMS) distributed humanitarian aid which was dispatched using a ship owned by PT PELNI, MV. Tidar, on Sunday night (16/8/2026) at 23.00 WIB from the Gapura Surya Nusantara (GSN) Pier, Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya.
The aid sent was intended to help communities affected by the earthquake disaster in the NTT region, especially in Maumere and Ende.
The Tanjung Perak Main Operational Unit (KSOP) and the TPS each distributed humanitarian aid in the form of basic necessities to earthquake-affected communities in Maumere. The aid included rice, cooking oil, soy sauce, baby diapers, instant noodles, mineral water, toddler milk, and biscuits, which are expected to help meet the community's basic needs during the emergency response and post-disaster recovery period.
Meanwhile, PT Pelindo Marine Service (Pelindo Marine), along with PT Pelindo Energi Logistik and PT Alur Pelayaran Barat Surabaya, distributed 40 tarpaulin tents to affected communities in Ende Regency. This assistance was provided based on the local community's urgent need for temporary shelter following the earthquake.
The Head of the Tanjung Perak Main Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP), Agustinus Maun, said that the distribution of this aid is a form of concern and synergy from all maritime personnel for the community affected by the earthquake disaster in East Nusa Tenggara.
"We express our condolences for the earthquake that befell our brothers and sisters in East Nusa Tenggara. Through the collaboration between the Tanjung Perak Main Operations Office (KSOP), Pelindo Group, and PT PELNI, we hope the aid distributed can help meet the basic needs of the affected communities and ease the burden they face. We hope the distribution process runs smoothly and the aid can be received quickly by those in need," said Agustinus Maun.
Hana Suhardi, Director of Freight and Sea Toll Transportation at PT PELNI, stated that this was the first humanitarian aid shipment to NTT using the MV Tidar.
"This aid shipment to NTT is the first shipment using the MV Tidar. The aid is expected to arrive on August 19, 2026, at 8:00 PM WITA. We would like to thank Pelindo Group and KSOP Utama Tanjung Perak for distributing the aid and for entrusting PT PELNI to transport aid to communities affected by the earthquake in NTT," said Hana Suhardi.
Meanwhile, the Commercial, Operations and Engineering Director of PT Pelindo Marine Service, Elvin Syah Putra, explained that the aid distributed by Pelindo Marine Group was tailored to the needs of the community in the affected locations.
"We distributed 40 tarpaulin tents to the people of Ende because, based on the information we received, the area is in urgent need of tarpaulins to support post-disaster management," said Elvin.
This aid distribution demonstrates synergy between government agencies and state-owned port companies in supporting humanitarian efforts for disaster-affected communities. Through collaboration between the Tanjung Perak Main Port Authority (KSOP), Pelindo Group, and PT PELNI, it is hoped that the aid will be promptly received and utilized by those in need in East Nusa Tenggara.
