PANJANG BANDAR LAMPUNG (ISL News) - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 together with PT IPC Terminal Petikemas officially operated the Quay Container Crane (QCC) 004 at the Panjang Port Container Terminal, Bandar Lampung, Thursday (2/7/2026).

The operation of the new loading and unloading equipment is part of Pelindo's efforts to increase service capacity, accelerate the loading and unloading process, and strengthen the role of Panjang Port as the main logistics gateway in Southern Sumatra.

The inauguration of QCC 004 was attended by various stakeholders, including the Panjang Class I KSOP Office, the Bandar Lampung TMP B Customs and Excise Office, the Agricultural Quarantine Office, port and logistics associations, service users, and Pelindo's work partners.

The QCC 004 is a Post Panamax crane that previously arrived at Panjang Port aboard the MV Zheng Hua 37 from China. This equipment has a 45-meter outreach and can reach 16 to 17 rows of containers, enabling it to serve larger vessels more effectively and efficiently.

With the operation of QCC 004, IPC TPK Panjang Area now has a total of four QCC units ready to support increased capacity and productivity of container loading and unloading services.

Executive Director 2 of Pelindo Regional 2, Budi Prasetio, said the operation of QCC 004 is part of Pelindo's commitment to providing increasingly modern, efficient, and competitive port services.

According to him, port transformation is not only determined by infrastructure development, but also by readiness to provide services that are increasingly fast, reliable, and oriented to the needs of service users.

"The operation of QCC 004 is one of Pelindo Regional 2's strategic steps to increase service capacity while supporting the smooth running of the national logistics chain," Budi said, Thursday (2/7/2026).

He added that increasing loading and unloading capacity would have a direct impact on port operational efficiency, from accelerating ship service times to increasing container terminal productivity.

This condition is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of Panjang Port as one of the main logistics hubs in the Sumatra region.

Pelindo certainly wants to ensure that every investment it makes provides added value, not only for port operations, but also for the business world and the regional economy.

"The more efficient port services are, the more competitive logistics costs will be, which will ultimately support the growth of national industry and trade," he added.

The operation of QCC 004 was marked by an inauguration ceremony, a review of the Panjang Port Container Terminal facilities, and a jug-breaking ceremony with invited guests.

With the operation of QCC 004, Pelindo Regional 2 is optimistic that the capacity and productivity of Panjang Port Container Terminal will continue to increase.

This step also emphasizes the company's commitment to providing global-standard port services, strengthening national logistics connectivity, and supporting economic growth in Southern Sumatra.
