GRESIK (ISL News) - Four ports managed by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), or Pelindo, have again received the 2026 ASRI Green and Smart Port Initiatives (GSPI) award for their efficient, technology-based, and environmentally conscious port management. This achievement reinforces Pelindo's consistent transformation in developing modern and sustainable port services.
The award was presented by the Coordinating Minister for Food of the Republic of Indonesia, Zulkifli Hasan, in a series of GSPI ASRI 2026 activities held in Gresik, East Java, Wednesday (15/7/2026).
The four ports that received the award were PT Pelindo Multi Terminal Branch Tanjung Intan Cilacap, PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas TPK Banjarmasin, PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas TPK Bitung, and PT Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal Tbk.
Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan stated that the implementation of Green and Smart Ports is part of the President of the Republic of Indonesia's directive to encourage the transformation of national ports to become more efficient, modern, and environmentally friendly. Ports play a strategic role in strengthening the national supply chain, therefore, they require support from sustainable governance, technology utilization, and increased operational efficiency.
"Port transformation through Green and Smart Ports is the President's directive to make Indonesian ports more efficient, modern, and environmentally sustainable. Advanced ports must be able to support the smooth flow of national logistics while implementing sustainability principles," said Zulkifli Hasan.
Pelindo President Director Achmad Muchtasyar said the award reflects the company's commitment to integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, service digitalization, and operational innovation into port management.
"We commend all Pelindo employees who have worked hard to create a more modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly port. This award demonstrates that Pelindo's transformation has yielded tangible results in supporting improved service quality and national logistics competitiveness," said Achmad.
According to Achmad, this achievement will be a driving force for Pelindo to gradually expand and strengthen the implementation of Green and Smart Port aspects throughout the company's operational areas.
"This award does not mark the end of the transformation process. Pelindo will continue to improve operational efficiency, technology utilization, occupational safety, environmental management, and emission reduction efforts to create a more sustainable port ecosystem," he added.
The Green and Smart Port program encourages port managers to develop operations that prioritize efficiency, service digitalization, safety, environmental management, and carbon emission reduction. Implementing these principles is part of Pelindo's efforts to provide reliable port services while supporting sustainable national economic growth.
