SURABAYA (ISL News) - PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) received a visit from the Surabaya City Branch Leadership Council of the Indonesian Truck Entrepreneurs Association (DPC APTRINDO) in a dialogue and discussion forum to strengthen synergy between logistics ecosystem players and encourage improvements in the quality of terminal services that are more efficient, safe, and sustainable.

The audience, which took place at the PT Terminal Teluk Lamong Office, was attended by the Chairman of the DPC APTRINDO Surabaya City I Wayan Sumadita, President Director of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong David P. Sirait, Terminal Head TPK Teluk Lamong Pierre Rochel Tumbol, along with the management and members of the DPC APTRINDO Surabaya City.

This meeting became a space for open dialogue to discuss various operational issues that are of concern to service users, including vehicle arrival patterns, truck flow density during certain periods, and various joint efforts to improve the smooth distribution of logistics in the East Java region.

The President Director of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong, David P. Sirait, emphasized that TTL continues to open communication and collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure that terminal services are able to accommodate the increasing growth in logistics flows.

"APTRINDO is a strategic partner in the national logistics supply chain. Therefore, input from trucking business players is an important part of the evaluation and development of terminal services. We believe that improving logistics performance can only be achieved through collaboration and mutual commitment from all parties in the port ecosystem," said David.

David explained that in terms of capacity, Teluk Lamong Container Terminal still has sufficient space to support the growth in cargo flows. With a stacking yard capacity of up to 1.4 million TEUs per year, supported by modern gate facilities, and automated loading and unloading equipment, the main focus now is ensuring a more even distribution of truck arrivals according to the terminal's operational capacity.

"What we need to manage together is not only terminal capacity, but also vehicle arrival patterns. When most trucks arrive at the same time slot, the potential for queues will increase even though the terminal still has available capacity. Therefore, discipline in terms of arrival schedules is a crucial factor in maintaining smooth service," he added.

As part of its operational transformation, PT Terminal Teluk Lamong has implemented the Terminal Booking System (TBS) Stage 2 since March 2026. This system regulates vehicle arrivals based on four-hour operational time slots, thus ensuring a more balanced distribution of truck traffic throughout the day.

Currently, the compliance rate for arrivals according to booked slots is still around 33 percent, while the remainder still arrive earlier or later than the selected schedule. This condition causes vehicle congestion at certain hours even though the overall terminal capacity is still adequate. Therefore, TTL, together with APTRINDO, is encouraging increased operational discipline so that the benefits of TBS implementation can be optimally felt by all service users.

Through TBS implementation, the terminal can optimize equipment utilization, reduce potential queues at the gate area, increase service productivity, while providing certainty of service times for service users.

In addition, TTL has also provided a Green Shelter or Waiting Area that can accommodate up to 66 trucks. This facility serves as a comfortable waiting area for drivers before entering the terminal according to the predetermined service schedule, while also helping to reduce vehicle congestion in the operational area and access to the terminal.

The Chairman of the APTRINDO Surabaya City Branch, I Wayan Sumadita, appreciated TTL management's openness in receiving input and aspirations from logistics transportation business actors.

"We appreciate the opportunity to have a direct dialogue with TTL management. Open communication like this is crucial so that every operational challenge can be understood from various perspectives and the best solutions can be found together," said Wayan.

In addition to expressing appreciation for the openness of TTL management, APTRINDO also conveyed several inputs from members that are expected to be used as material for joint evaluation in improving the quality of logistics services. Some of these inputs include a review of special service routes for reefer containers to support the acceleration of refrigerated cargo services, a study on developing buffer area capacity outside the existing waiting area to anticipate a surge in vehicles during certain periods, and improved coordination with domestic shipping companies regarding the availability of best pick containers for customers picking up empty containers at Teluk Lamong Terminal.

In response to these various inputs, TTL management expressed its appreciation for APTRINDO's attention and contribution and will conduct further evaluations with relevant stakeholders to ensure that each proposal can be comprehensively reviewed from the aspects of operations, safety, service efficiency, and benefits for the smooth running of the logistics chain as a whole.

"We are grateful that various input from members has been received and discussed openly by TTL management. We hope that this kind of communication and coordination can continue so that APTRINDO can fulfill its role as a bridge between trucking service users and terminal managers in a joint effort to improve the efficiency and smoothness of national logistics," Wayan continued.

According to him, APTRINDO is ready to support various policies and operational systems aimed at improving terminal service efficiency, including encouraging member discipline in following the established operational schedule.

Similarly, Mila, a representative of the logistics transportation company Bigtrans, stated that services at the Teluk Lamong Terminal continue to show positive developments from year to year.

"In general, services and operations at the Teluk Lamong Terminal are getting better and more organized. We also appreciate the existence of a dialogue space like this because various issues that arise in the field can be discussed openly and constructively," said Mila.

She added that trucking companies also have a responsibility to support improving the quality of terminal services by improving operational discipline, strengthening driver competency, and arranging container delivery and pick-up schedules to ensure a more equitable distribution of vehicle arrivals.

Through this forum, TTL and APTRINDO agreed to continue strengthening coordination, outreach, and ongoing communication to create a more efficient, reliable, and competitive logistics system.

"Going forward, we hope this established synergy can continue to be enhanced. Efficient service times are a shared need in the logistics industry, so collaboration between terminals and service users is key to achieving improved service," Wayan concluded.
