SURABAYA (ISL News) - As a container terminal service provider handling cargo for international and domestic destinations, PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) has once again been entrusted with the shipment of three locomotive platforms manufactured by PT INKA (Persero) to Australia this year. This shipment completes the export of 16 locomotive platforms from the total order.
The export of 50 units of this platform locomotive demonstrates positive progress and the consistency of the national railway manufacturing industry in penetrating the global market.
Previously, the delivery of locomotive platforms by PT INKA (Persero) through TPS had been carried out in several stages, including the delivery of 2 (two) units as an initial stage in February 2025, followed by the realization of exports of 13 units throughout 2025. With the additional export of 3 (three) units carried out on Sunday, 24/05, the number of locomotive platforms that have been sent through TPS is 16 units.
The selection of TPS as a shipping hub was based on its complete facilities and operational readiness, particularly for handling the loading of railway products that require special handling. Furthermore, TPS offers extensive international shipping access and is relatively close to PT INKA (Persero)'s production facilities in Madiun, thus supporting smooth and efficient logistics operations.
The products sent are in the form of locomotive platforms or locomotive underframes which are included in the Uncontainerized (UC) or Out of Gauge (OOG) cargo category, which requires special handling, from planning to the loading process at the terminal.
Australia's trust in PT INKA (Persero) is inextricably linked to its guaranteed product quality, competitive pricing, and responsive after-sales service. Furthermore, efficient shipping costs are a key factor in strengthening PT INKA's product competitiveness in the international market.
As a container terminal, TPS ensures the readiness of equipment and competent human resources to support the shipping process so that it runs safely, efficiently, and according to operational standards.
Acting Senior Manager of TPS's Management and Commercial Systems, Indriana Susilowati, stated that the continued delivery demonstrates confidence in TPS's capabilities in supporting national manufacturing exports.
"TPS remains committed to supporting the smooth export of Indonesian railway products to ensure they are competitive in the global market. Handling the shipment of this locomotive platform demonstrates our readiness to handle special cargo with high operational standards and solid collaboration between relevant parties ," said Indri.
Furthermore, Indri added that TPS as part of the national logistics ecosystem has a strategic role not only as a loading and unloading point, but also as a gateway for domestic industrial products to penetrate the international market.
With experience in handling special cargo such as Break Bulk (BBK) and various strategic export projects, TPS will continue to strengthen its role as a reliable logistics partner in supporting Indonesia's export growth.
