JAKARTA (ISL News, 05/25/2026) — The Tanjung Priok Class I Sea and Coast Guard Base (PLP) received a visit from the KKRI Maritime Education Visit Wave V of the 2026 Fiscal Year which was attended by approximately 560 participants, consisting of students, accompanying teachers, elements of the Indonesian Navy and the organizing committee.
The educational activity was also attended by the Aster Pangkolinlamil TNI AL, Navy Colonel (P) Indra Joko Rerangin, M.Han., structural officials of the Class I Tanjung Priok PLP Base, elements of the TNI/TNI AL and participant companions.
This maritime educational visit is part of an effort to introduce the world of Indonesian maritime affairs to the younger generation and provide direct understanding of the duties and functions of the Sea and Coast Guard Unit (KPLP) as a government element under the Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation.
In the remarks of the Head of the Tanjung Priok Class I PLP Base delivered by the Head of the Administration Sub-Division Magdalena Alaida, SE, MAK, representing the Head of the Base Fourmansyah, SH, MM, MH, it was conveyed that this activity is an important momentum to increase maritime insight, instill a spirit of love for the homeland and build awareness among the younger generation regarding the safety and security of Indonesian seas.
"The presence of participants is an important opportunity to gain a closer understanding of Indonesia's maritime world and the duties and functions of the Sea and Coast Guard Unit (KPLP)."
KPLP has a strategic task in maintaining the safety and security of shipping, supervision, law enforcement at sea and protection of the maritime environment, as part of efforts to maintain the smooth running of national shipping activities.
In addition, KPLP is also responsible for implementing mandatory international provisions (mandatory instruments) of the International Maritime Organization/IMO, including:
✓ SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) — safety of life at sea;
✓ MARPOL (Marine Pollution) — prevention of marine pollution;
✓ STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) — seafarer competency standards;
✓ ISPS Code (International Ship and Port Facility Security Code) — security of ships and port facilities.
The implementation of these international standards is an important part of ensuring shipping safety, maritime security and protection of Indonesia's marine environment.
In the educational session, participants received material on: Profile and duties of KPLP, Shipping safety, Law enforcement at sea, Supervision and protection of the maritime environment, Operation of state patrol vessels, Demonstration of safety equipment (Life Jackets, APAR and operational equipment) and Introduction to professions and service in the maritime sector.
The activity also emphasized that maritime transportation is the backbone of logistics distribution, trade and national economic growth, so that shipping safety plays an important role in the smooth running of economic activities and the needs of the community.
"When shipping is safe and smooth, economic activities and the distribution of people's needs can run smoothly."

The Tanjung Priok Class I PLP Base expressed its appreciation to all organizers of the KKRI Maritime Education Visit Wave V TA 2026, elements of the TNI/TNI AL, accompanying teachers and all parties who have supported the implementation of this activity.
